  • Tuesday July 16th MLB Picks

    YTD: 57-51-1 +10.56 Units

    Taking:

    St. Louis Cardinals -175.

Pirates struggling on the road, losers of their last six games away from home. They've averaged 2 runs per game during this span, including getting shut out last night by Mikolas.

They haven't won a game in the second half yet (post all star break) and have been outscored 29-10 during this four game span.

Jack Flaherty has stifled them as well, allowing only 5 earned runs over his last 24 innings vs. the Bucs.

Cards appear to be heating up, winners of their last 3 in a row.

Cards starters have tossed 17.3 scoreless innings in a row. This is a "thing" as there's talk about it among Cards starters in the media, so that doesn't hurt. Wainright had challenged Miklos to throw more than 7 scoreless and he did. Now those guys will be kicking that can to Flaherty. Positive momentum is a real thing, as goofy as it may sound.

Dario Agrazal on the hill for Pittsburgh, a guy who had average(at best) minor league numbers.

What I really like here is that Busch Stadium plays as one of the hottest fields in baseball. It'll be 83 degrees at gametime and the "feels like" report is 90 degrees. Agrazal weighs in at 240 pounds, so potential fatigue is in play here.

    Good luck to all!
