    LA Dodgers -132

    2 units

Sometimes the public is just right. Hopefully this is one of them. I can't believe they're not all over Hudson and the Braves as a dog, or at least 50%. I mean yes, it's Penny and the Dodgers are the better team, but that is something I would have expected the public to overlook and grab that dog line with Hudson. Guess we'll find out soon enough...

When Brad Penny can deliver a 2 run single with 2 outs bases loaded then yes they might have a superior team.

Not sure what you mean there, lol, but as it turns out Penny was pitching with a blister of some sort last night. Wish I had known that before making the play. He did outlast Hudson however, even with the blister issue he was dealing with.

Penny did also deliver an RBI double with 2 outs in the 2nd inning, for whatever that's worth.

In any case, it's difficult to compare actual numbers as far as offense and pitching goes since the Braves offensive numbers are inflated IMO because of playing in a division with average at best, to complete **** pitching from top to bottom, and at the same time their pitching numbers may be better if they didn't play in a division that is so offensively oriented (minus the Nationals), while the same can be said for the Dodgers, whose hitting numbers would certainly be better if they played teams like the Phillies with NO pitching every other week, yet their team pitching stats may be down if they didn't face light hitting teams like SD so often....although the Braves do play Washington pretty often who can't hit either.

I mean honestly, from top to bottom, look at the pitching staffs in the NL West as compared to those of the NL East. #4 guys would be aces on some of the NL East staffs, and vice versa. Guys who are top of the rotation guys in the NL East would pretty much be #4 or #5 guys on NL West teams, minus Smoltz and Hudson. Really, the Mets pitching isn't even too good (even if it's at least partially due to injury with guys like Pedro and Sanchez who could obviously improve their staff a ton when healthy), and they lead the division, Florida's is young and inconsistant at best, same goes for Washington, and Philly pretty much has the worst pitching in all of baseball.....while even teams like SFG who aren't even contending in the West have a bunch of good arms to throw out there every night.

With that being said, as far as I'm concerned the Dodgers do have a better record than the Braves, and do have the better overall pitching staff (especially in the bullpen where the only even match would be the set up men Broxton vs Soriano), and are at the very least at par on offense....so yes, I give them the advantage as being the better overall team, even if only slightly....which is exactly what their current overall records would indicate.

I think what I meant too say....

there is no way the Dodgers are that much better than the braves that it is ever worth laying triple juice on them when they have already won 2 games in the series.

I'm a Braves fan too, but using that as a basis for making nonsense statements is crazy!

Lay off the crack pipe!

Oh, and please explain "triple juice" to me. :bang:

I would have guessed -300 is "triple juice" because it is three times "even"?

Juice, aka vigorish, is how much the book chargers you when you win. Against standard odds it is 4.55%. Triple juice in this case would be 13.65%. We're talking about a 30 cent line here. No one books that on money lines!

JP it does make sense too bet braves after they have lost 2 games in a row...if you don't know the Braves are the streakiest team in baseball.
