WNBA Team Total for Tue 8/5

    Recap: 1-0
    Record: 20-16

Review: Last time in I had Ionescu over 4' rebounds.
She was standing on four with only 1:57 left in the game when she snagged number 5.
    Hey, I said she'd go Over 4', I didn't say when.

Today I'm going to go with a team total, using Chicago.
It fits some of the same models that the pick in my homepage article has today. T1 says it goes Over T1 uas a record of 8-4 on Overs this season.
And it fits a subcategory that's 7-2 on the season. Those models are both based on a full game but Washington lost Sykes today (she was traded) and I'm not sure how they respond to losing her.
Instead of playing the full game I'm going to take the Chicago team total.

The Sky average 80 PPG at home.
    Tonight's number is just 74'.
And here's why you can't trust internet stats, especially that "AI Overview" that pops up on the screen every time I try to check a stat these days. It gives out more wrong information than CNN.
I've seen two updates in the last hour or so, one stating that Reese is in and one stating that she's out.
    Not much help for handicappers.
    Regardless...
Gimme Chi Ov 74', -109 on their team total.

    #2
The Sky put up 25 points in the first quarter, 1/3 of the full game total I need.
    But it's the WNBA.
With 3 minutes left in the second quarter they've only scored four points. They've missed at least two layups and two other shots from right under the basket.
    A painful watch.

Update: Nine, NINE Chicago turnovers in the second quarter alone. That's almost one every minute!
They follow up the 25 point Q1, that had me on pace for 100 points, with a 10 pt Q2 and I'm now four points under where I need to be.
    When does football start?

Update #2: And now, after a 10 point second quarter, they put up 16 points in just 5 minutes, or half of the third quarter.

This "sport" is unwatchable if you don't have money on it.
(And to prove my point Chicago just missed a wide open, uncontested layup.)

Update #3: And a 26 point Q3 gets me right back to what should be money in the bank with only 14 points needed in the fourth.
    But . . . it's the W. So you never know.

Off to bang up start in the fourth Q - missed their first shot and just now missed a layup.
    Next possession ... an airball.
Eight minutes left and I need 12.
Seven minutes left and I need 10.
    Turnover.
Time out Chicago, 6:56 left but with the Sky up by double digits the last minute of this game will probably be just dribbling the clock out so I need points now.
Two points in, 6:37 left, need eight.
They actually just MADE a layup! Two more points in, need six.
With 5:48 left I only need six points.
A miss from under the basket.
Williams scores, 4 minutes left and only need four.
Trouble though, Mystics down by 19 and the pace is starting to slow down.
    Turnover.
Three minutes left and I only need four points.
    Missed shot.
Another missed shot. Only 2 minutes left now.
Turnover! Number 17 of the game!
I've got maybe three, four shots at most left in the game, need to hit two of them. Mystics not in foul trouble so I'm not going to get any help there.
Inbounding the ball with 2:17 left.
Trouble now, they just stepped out of bounds, another turnover.
Just 1:50 left in the game. They're going to screw me.
Score! One minute left, need one basket.
Violation!!! They didn't get the ball over the half court mark in time! WTF!!!!!! Amateurs!
    Atkins three pointer! Cha-Ching!

(Posting play-by-play is like therapy for me on games like this one, keeps me from shooting my TV.)

156' is the WAN for the late game.
