  • JoePa's Crowne Plaza and LPGA Corning Classic

Had a winner with Ryuji Imada last week......

    CROWNE PLAZA INVITATIONAL -

WINNER 2 WEEKS RUNNING.....WAY TO GO PHILBERT!!!

PHIL MICKELSON 10 / 1 - The 2nd best player in the world and the highest ranked player in the field this week. This may be Phil's last chance to win without having to chase Tiger around and it's been several months since his last win this season. Lot's of incentive to win!

KENNY PERRY 18 / 1 - Perry won @ Colonial in 2003 and 2005 and finished 2nd in 2002 so he's got some history here. Besides he's the all-time money leader at this event winning $2,626,589, played here 18 times and made the cut 16 times, won twice, has 4 Top 10s, and 7 Top 25s....he might have missed the cut last year but by a measley 3 strokes while nursing a wrist injury. He's been solid this year with a T3rd in the Hope Chrysler Classic, and a 2nd last week at the AT&T after landing his approach in the drink on 18 in a playoff. An uncharacteristic 81 in the final round of the Players sunk him....if he can shake off two weeks of frustration and keep striking the ball well he may march thru Hogan's Alley. He's 10th in scoring average @ 70.02.

STEPHEN AMES 25 / 1 - A sleeper pick if there ever was one for me! Don't overlook his quiet demeanor because he's finished 3rd and 4th in this event, took 5th at the Players two weeks ago, has a 3rd in the Mercedes Benz and a T10th in the Sony Open. Ames if 29th in scoring average @ 70.40.

    CORNING CLASSIC - writeups later.....

PAULA CREAMER 4 / 1 - She's the Cream-er of the crop this week with the field missing some big names.....especially Lorena! She's tops in ADT points, 4th in driving accuracy (80.7%) which will be needed this week, 11th in sand saves, T9th in putting, 5th in GIR (71.9%), 4th in scoring average (70.50), has 4 Top 10s this year, won the SemGroup and finished 2nd two weeks ago at the Standford International. She finished 16th last week despite 4 rounds under par and two of them in the 60s (69 & 68).

NA YEON CHOI 18 / 1 - T2nd in the Sybase just 1 stroke back of Lorena who finished at -10. This rookie sensation has done some fine things this year, 4 Top 10s (5th), 3 Top 5s (2nd and two 5ths), she's 10th in scoring, the first rookie too reach 500 points this year, 4th in birdies on tour, T6th in eagles, 8th in rounds under par, and is 7th on the money list for 2008 with 348,157.

ANGELA STANFORD 25 / 1 - Stanford is 12th in scoring this year @ 71.22 with a low 9-hole round of 30 and low 18-hole round of 62, along with 3 Top 10 finishes. This weeks short field could be to her favor.
