    JOEPA'S UPDATED YTD
    +41.50 UNITS

One of my favorite golf weeks and I happen to be on vacation so the early starts and late nights will not bother my routine. I am looking forward to Royal Lytham and the weather it's going to dish out. It's a more of a western type of links course sprinkled with typical British Open bunkers and wind. It's a week of perseverance.....

JUSTIN ROSE 5/1 E.W. - Rose’s super quiet on-the-down-low season of 9 Top 10s which includes a win at the WGC event in Doral, 12th place ranking in the FedEx standings, 4th place tour ranking in GIR, T8th at the Masters & T21st at the U.S. Open clearly exposes the fact that the next big step is to win a major. Has any other player produced such a quality season and flown so far under the radar as Rose? It wouldn’t surprise me to see him hanging around on Sunday and quietly win his first major. As far as his resume in the Open Championship, his lone Top10 in 10 starts remains a T4th as an amateur in 1998. Well, now he’s joined the 30-something crowd and enjoying a highly successful year. Recent form is solid and it’s HIS TIME!

PADRAIG HARRINGTON 5/1 E.W. - Paddy thrives in bad weather and Lytham is where he played his first British Open. He's found some consistency lately with four Top15s on TOUR---15th HP Byron Nelson, T13th FedEx St. Jude, T4th in U.S. Open, and T11th Travelers---and tied for 16th in his last start on the European Tour at the Scottish Open and was 7th at the Irish Open. The two-time champion of the British Open has clawed his way back to an elevated level of consistency. His consistency is evident in his 5th ranking in scoring 17th ranking in sand saves on the PGA tour, while he also has a 76% sand save and 66% GIR rankings on the European Tour. Also this season he has a T7th at the AT&T Pebble Beach, T20th at the Transitions, T8th at The Masters on American soil. Recent form and his ability to play from the bunker make him a great consideration.

JASON DUFNER 11/1 E. W. - Has solid recent form with 2 wins, a 2nd and a T4th---U.S. Open---in his last 5 starts. The rough will be very brutal at Royal Lytham and if it gets wet it will be even more penal which favors his game because he ranks in the Top 10 in Driving Accuracy (16th) and GIR (6th) on the PGA Tour. He’s also 2nd in birdie average, 4th in scoring average, 26th in and saves, 10th in total driving, 21st in par 3 birdie or better average, 8th in par four birdie or better average, and 12th in par 5 birdie or better average. Eight of his last 9 starts this season have produced Top 25s, 6 of which are Top 15s and 5 are Top 10s. Hasn't made a cut in two appearances in the Open Championship, but his golf game is by far in a different league now. The 2012 two-time winner is well rested since his last start was the U.S. Open which is a good thing because the conditions could be awful this week. He’s just the kind of American player that the Euros like to pull for so their warmth should be a boost for him. I just hate long layoffs between starts.....

HUNTER MAHAN 12/1 E. W. – Mahan has won twice on the PGA tour this year and was 8th last time out at the AT&T National. His last four starts have also produced a T11th at the Travelers and T19th at the Memorial. He is ranked 1st in total ball striking, 11th in driving accuracy, 3rd in GIR, 15th in scoring average, and 6th in total driving on the PGA Tour and has shown that he is comfortable with links golf. With the form that Mahan and Dufner have shown this year, they have to be near the top of the U.S. favorites list, but would be much shorter in odds they were regulars on the European Tour. Hopefully one of them can follow up the Royal Lytham wins of fellow Americans David Duval and Tom Lehman having played well on the PGA Tour in the build up to the Open Championship.

RAFAEL CABRERA-BELLO 32/1 E.W. & 16/1 Top 10 - The Spaniard is making his first appearance in The Open Championship. Held off the challenges of some star names to claim the 2012 Omega Dubai Desert Classic title winning by a shot over Lee Westwood. His golf resume is impressive as he won the Spanish National Championship every year from age seven to under-18 and his sister Emma competes on the Ladies European Tour. His win in Dubai early this season is accompanied by three Top 3 finishes---2nd at the Irish Open just a couple weeks ago, 3rd at the Volvo Match Play, 3rd at the Malaysian Open and he also has a 15th at the BMW PGA. "RCB" is also currently 13th in the Race to Dubai standings, 16th on the European Tour in GIR at 67%, 57% in sand saves and 31st in scoring average.
