  • JoePa's MASTERS Golf Picks

Now that college basketball has concluded, it's time for me to spend more time watching/following golf more closely. Great weekend to jump right in being that it's time for Augusta already! And, you know me, always looking for a diamond in the rough or at least that unpredictable and sneaky leader board climber.

JORDAN SPEITH 8/1 OUTRIGHT WINNER - Jordan should have, er, could have, won last week at the Shell Houston! Although he ranks T97th in par-5 scoring, he's ranked 3rd in adjusted scoring and he T2nd in his 2014 debut at Augusta.

JIMMY WALKER 4/1 TOP 5 FINISH - Walker won by four strokes in San Antonio two weeks ago, and wasn't feeling well last week so he gave himself a week off. Ranks 6th in adjusted scoring, 4th in par 5 scoring and T8th in his 2014 debut at Augusta. Walker is a 22/1 shot at winning the green jacket.

HENRIK STENSON 20/1 OUTRIGHT WINNER & 3/1 TOP 5 FINISH - Stenson was under the weather last week as well and did not play at the SHO! In his last three Tour starts he has T4th, 4th, 2nd place finishes. Coincidentally he leads the Tour in adjusted scoring and finished a career-best T14th here last season.

HEDEKI MATSUYAMA 11/1 TOP 5 FINISH & 5/1 TOP 10 FINISH - The last three rounds at Augusta have not been fruitful for Matsuyama as he was recorded an aggregate score of 80 twice. He does however, have five Top 10s this season and is a very solid player coming in with good form. He's a 66/1 shot to take the title.....

CAMERON TRINGALE 14/1 TOP 10 FINISH & 4/1 TOP 20 FINISH - Finished a tidy T5th last week at the Shell Houston Open---his third Top 10 there in the last four years---an they say the SHO is supposed to be a great warmup before Augusta. He led the field in strokes gained putting last week! Tringale is a 250/1 shot to win and a 33/1 shot to finish in the Top 5.
