The real bottom line I THINK is that the CFB game/landscape is just completely not what it was 20 years ago. 20 years ago, Nebraska, Oklahoma and the likes could give out like 85 scholarships every year, which meant that a great QB who may not play there right away, would still rather go and sit on the bench for 3 years, but have the chance to go to an Orange Bowl there than lose 77-0 every week as the starter at Iowa State, KU, Missouri etc... They cut the scholarships back to whatever it is like 60 or so, and now those 25 kids who went to Nebraska before and were great players, are ending up at places like Kansas, Missouri, Wake Forest etc.. And it has taken time for those players to get into programs like Missouri etc...and to slowly build up those programs. I think this season is going to be the norm from now on. There weren't many upsets in the past because there were about 15 great teams and 80 lousy ones who had no chance of beating anyone. Also, those top tier schools don't have the depth they used to in the old days when the 3rd stringers for Nebraska could beat KU 70-0 if they had to. Now, Good coaches will surface at programs like Mizzou, Kansas, Oregon, Kentucky because they know they can be competitive in the current landscape.........................I think it is going to be nuts year in and year out and at some point, we won't consider Kentucky beating LSU as big an upset as we do now. They are going to be forced to go to a playoff at some point because of this. I just don't see how after 2 or 3 more years of this that they can fight it off.

Not sure, but rumors are that 90% of the ESPN staff tested positive for having Laurinitas' DNA in their system, if ya know what I'm trying to say...

Oh man, I'm going to try to tackle this thread tomorrow and then have Flyers rip me a new one and call me a know-it-all. I can't wait!!!

I think their are some very good points made here and I think there is some very stupid points made too (from both sides).

The SEC is hands down the best conference for football in America. It's not really debatable, IMHO. The reason - the depth. Could certain Big 10 or Pac 10 teams beat the LSU's. Florida's and Georgia's of the world on any given day... Without a doubt they could. But you also can say with confidence that Washington might not win more than 2 games in conference play in the SEC. Arizona State would finish in the lower tier of the SEC as well. They just don't match up physically. Kentucky is a better team than Arizona State, IMHO and I think (not sure) that Kentucky is under .500 in conference.

The non-SEC guys are right, the gap is not THAT great, and LSU is not the juggernaut gay ass ESPN made them out to be all season long (which is the real problem with some people's perceptions). Corso may be an idiot, but has been spot on with some thing this season and one of them is that he's been saying LSU is overrated for WEEKS AND WEEKS (especially their defense).

We love who we love, that's what makes these debates fun!!!

Was that me being rational??? Huh??? :dunno:

    GO BIG EAST!!!!

The SEC is good, but not untouchable good like the media makes it out to be.

I totally agree, and that was the entire reason I took UCLA today. Oregon is nothing without Dixon.

While I don't think Hawaii is as good as any of these teams we're talking about, on any given day, they COULD beat them. I mean they shellacked Boise last night....much worse than the final score would indicate. It wasn't favorable refs or anything like that, just a good old fashioned ass kicking from where I was sitting. Not saying that never happened in a Hawaii home game, just that it was clear who was the better team last night.

With that being said, many thought that Boise wasn't supposed to belong last year, and they ended up winning a BCS game.....the most exciting one by far, and really the only one that was even worth watching IMHO, unless I'm forgetting one.

Anyway, I'd sure as heck rather see another Boise/Oklahoma game than Florida mowing down OSU or USC beating the bejesus out of Michigan again. I mean honestly, Hawaii couldn't get waxed any worse than either of those teams did last year, could they? Or as bad as USC whipped Oklahoma a few years back in the BCS title game? I mean it's not like the title games have been all that competitive lately anyway, lol

no but SEC teams have to continuously travel to tennessee and arkansas and deal with all the trannies and skanky crack whores hitting on them... NOT an easy obstacle to overcome, let me assure you of that!!!!
