Good stuff, Queen. Joe Schad, on ESPN, said major conflict was that he wanted raises for his coaches which amounted to a total of about $200,000 per season (combined for all of them). This kind of thing always amazes me. You have a coach making nearly $2 million per year, which the university and boosters pay, and it's financially strapping the university it seems. So then he goes and asks for more money for his assistants (and wants more recruiters hired). So say it did amount to about $200,000. Well, how about Coach Rod gives back $100,000 of his near $2 million and the university would then probably gladly make up the other $100,000 through booster money. Like there is really a difference bewteen making $1.8 million and $1.7 million, for example.

So silly on the reasons today that Coach Rod left. Just plain silly.
1. Waive the 5 dollar fee for the High School Coaches that attend games.
Last year 100 coaches attended games. So what 500 bucks. Im sorry that and I know that High School Coaches get paid about a dollar an hour for their time. But really 5 bucks is a deal for a college game.
2. Let his players sell their free books back to the school at the end of the school year.
OK give them free books, room, board, free education and etc. So now let them sell free books that can be reused next year by players on team. Ok why not let them sell what food is left over on their lunch tray. So ok Im not all that hungry this morning for breakfast so I'll sell you my toast for 50 cents. How about while they are out of town during the fall for an away game. Rent out their rooms for that weekend to somebody who's roommate's also their for the weekend so he can screw his girlfriend with out putting a towel on the door knob. Let them just not go to class and sell their seat to somebody else that really wants a degree in something useful. I could go on and on. It's againist NCAA rules to pay players on a college level money. So bend the rules alittle it's OK.
3. Hire some more guys to help him recruit.
4. Give all his coaching staff 100,000 bonus.
Schools reaction. No we are not going to give out free tickets as a bribe or gifts to High School Coaches.
No we will not allow your players to sell their free books.
OK we will think about hiring some new people.
We cant give your guys a raise we have plenty of problems right now meeting your pay. We cant go to our boosters and ask for more money right now.
Lets get this season over with and get through the Bowl game then we will go to them for more money. These are minor problems we are willing to work on. We just gave you 2 million for educational building for players. 6 million for locker room renovations. Now you want 3 million more. We cant do it right now.
He walked out and never looked back. He was looking for a reason to go.
Now he wants out of his 4 million buyout. BSLeave a comment:

Gotcha, Queen. I don't agree but I also don't know probably less than 1/8 of what you know about WVU so I'll take your word for it.
However, you can't use Beilein being 4-7 at Michigan and Huggins being 8-1 at WVU as a source for any argument. It's a false argument on many levels. Huggins has all of Beilein's kids (Alexander, Ruoff, Butler, and Nichols), and Beilein has nothing to work with right now at Michigan. The Wolverines lost 4 starters and didn't return one guy who average in DD's. How his team's record winds up this season and next, is not at all an indictment on anything Beilein has done there. That's not a fair argument.
I personally admire Beilein and think he is probably the best coach in America. To be fair too, Huggins did more than drink. They were the Florida State of college basketball with all their academic troubles, embarrassing graduation rates, and eventual NCAA sanctions. They constantly had kids on the team with legal problems too. We all have our own opinions, but if you ask me, Beilein is head and shoulders above Huggins in every facet of what you want a college coach to embody.
Have a good one :thumbs:Leave a comment:

Queen....I know alot about the Huggins family......dad, Charlie coached here locally and won about 4 state titles with his Indian Valley South Rebels that had Bobby, and brothers Harry and Larry (Hambone) on their teams......Charlie was the dean of HS coaches in our area and a screamer and task master like Bobby now is.....my older brother played against Bobby and I played against Harry and Larry. Charlie will be a staple in Morgantown yelling at the refs....he's priceless wearing those 1950s wire rimmed glasses! Man, there are lots of stories to tell about these guys. Bobby will win and most people around these parts respect him but don't actually like him a whole lot!Leave a comment:

Huggins 8-1 Beilein 4-7. And dont say that's because it's Beilien recruits. No starter returned this year. That's why he bolted.
You just got to be a member of the WVU Foundation to know why these moves where better for the school. Yes Terry Bowden will be perfect for WVU. But I really think now as of today unless something changes Doc Holliday still has a shot.
We dont want Terry because of his dad. We want Terry because everyone deserves a second shot. We are just plain stupid enough to like the man. They turned him down 7 years ago because of his drinking. He's now sober
Oh yeah and the Big Blues at it again. After the girls soccer teams coach.
Our football team is still in the same shape it was when Don Nehlen left. Only difference is Miami VT and Boston College gone. Coach Don went
6-4 most of the time. He played Penn State to most of those years. He had an undefeated season playing ND for championship. We lost but still he had good teams. Coach Rod looked like a king of all coaches but played a soft schedule. How can you say he's that good. He's a fraud a phoney. I have said this for years. I could coach that team on the schedule they had and go 10-2. Gheez wake up and smell the coffee. We dont play nobody.
Here's the deal the liar came home last year and took the Alabama Coaching job then back out of. Went back on his word. Resigned a contract and said Im here forever. Yeah right.
You know the history of Huggins. Yeah he drank too much too but now is sober and really good to his kids he coaches. AD gets along with him. Foundation gets along with him. We are happy with him. You may not be we we are.Last edited by Queen; 12-18-2007, 03:18 PM.Leave a comment:

What, wait? No one named Bowden has ever done anything shady or wrong?
And Queen, all the stuff you're saying about Rodriguez applies to nearly every coach, they are all the same. I'm sure there's a few who are legit, good hearted people that try to do things the right way, but they are few and far between. Trading Rich Rodriguez for Terry Bowden is probably the moral equivalent of trading a house robber for a bank robber. I also don't understand how any WVU fan can seem to be so happy Rodriguez is leaving? What do you care if he argues with the athletic director about new facilities? He won football games and put the program back on the map?
With all due respect, West Virginia people seem completely blinded by "those of their own." Explain to me how trading John Beilein (the best coach in the country if you ask me), for scumbag Bob Huggins was a good thing? And how is trading off Rodriguez for a Bowden (a family a scumbags) a good thing either?
I just don't get it. With Huggins and Bowden, are they going to change the name to the West Virginia Outlaws??Last edited by CuseFan10; 12-18-2007, 11:31 AM.Leave a comment:

i would hope to god that terry bowden doesn't get the wvu job. he is a horrible recruiter and has the ethical prowess of a porn director. he will drive that program into the ground.Leave a comment:

This just ran across the Fox News Ticker......
"The United States Congress has just worked out a deal with the governors of Michigan and West Virginia for the two states to trade land territories and have named Morgantown the capital city of Michigan and Ann Arbor the capital city of West Virginia."
I see no difference.....my apologies to our good neighbors to the southeast!

these coaches are really unreal. i mean the stories that are coming out on petrino who signed an extension at LOU and a week later was lobbying for the AUB job. then everyone knows how classless the guy was when he left ATL.
and on Saban...what has the guy really ever done?? he had a mediocre program at MSU...he was horrible with the Dolphins...he took over a loaded club at LSU and hasn't done **** at ALA.......talk about inviting a wolf to come hang out in the chicken coup....wow....i don't know why anyone would want this guy.
it is such a joke that players have to sit out a year when they transfer and coaches can come and go as they please.
I dont think it's going to be Saban. I really think it's going to be Terry Bowden.
Supose to talk with Bowden Thursday.
Saban on Friday only if Bowden dont take job.
But Im also hearing Tommy Bowden's name too.Last edited by Queen; 12-17-2007, 10:47 PM.Leave a comment:

The AD was very pissed off about the Pitt game. He was quoted as saying he was not happy with the way the game was coached. Those two have been fighting all season long. Rich demanding things that could not and would not be done by the school. There is nothing wrong with Mountaineer Stadium. No need to build another stadium like he wanted.
Well for one he's a darn crybaby. Spoiled brat. The baggage he carry's around with him is he's a liar.
How can you lie to your AD and tell him your going Christmas shopping over in Toledo and then come home and start packing. Then swear he was not doing anything. Calls one of his top recruits and tells him cross off WVU I'm going to Michigan and you can come to Michigan with me. He called him first. He still has never called the Univeristy and told them he is leaving. Sent over a note with an assistant that said I'm leaving Jan 3. Now this note says Im leaving Jan 3 then at today press conference he said Im not coaching the Fiesta Bowl game. Cancel pratice and tell them it's because there is a basketball workshop over in the indoor practice stadium. When you could call practice at 6PM. Never had a team meeting to tell his players bye or why he left. Michigan never called WVU and asked for a meeting. Not cool in my book.
He will get what's due to him when Michigan fires him in 3 years.
Funny thing is today Ohio State gained about 2 million new fans.
When Coach Rod left yesterday on a plane some unhappy fans found out what flight he was leaving on, they went to the airport and started yelling O-H. This morning the university woke up to a card board cut out of Coach Rod holding a Coca Cola his ad thing with Coke with a nooze around it's neck strung up the flag pole. Then the darn Morgantown police where called over to his house because mad fans where throwing stuff at the moving crew.
He's left a very bad taste in alot of people's mouths. Not mine Im happy to see him go.Leave a comment:

i dont know the history? why would they fire him, what baggage is he lugging around?Well what I found out today is that Coach Rod resigned as of Jan 3 after the Fiesta bowl. But he is already recruiting for Michigan and that is a violation of his contract. WVU cant let him go because they will lose 4 million dollars. So they got to put up with is crap. But then WVU has a law school and the Head of the law school said he can still be told to get out over already recruiting for Michigan. Some top QB from Penn was looking to go to about 5 schools and he told some website WVU's off my list and Michigan's on it now. So it's a mess.
Now here's top info on new coach:
Doc Holliday from Flordia and Terry Bowden right now two front runners.
I said the other day it would be Terry but right now Doc Holliday is number one choice.
Terry Bowden second.
I know you dont give a rats ass.
But inside scoop is that the reason Coach Rod left and took Michigan job was..........................................WVU was going to fire him. Yep that's right. He just did the dirty work by leaving. It was a blessed and joyous day when he decided to leave. You guys up North there will find out what I mean. He's got a 4 year contract with Michigan and he will not last. You guys will not put up with the bullcrap and baggage that comes with him. Trust me. You'll dig this post up in about 3 years and say darn it Queen was right.Leave a comment:
