EXCELLENT job on the World Cup action man.
Kudos to what I believe was the most popular thread of all time on this site!Leave a comment:

Sorry, I didn't see this today.I know your not wagering on this one hero, but if you could, do you still lean Spain?
I have a +400 future for Spain to win it all. I put 500 on it, so that's a nice payout. With the Netherlands getting such good odds, should I hedge or just ride with Spain??
Thanks Hero:beerbang:
Looks like you banked regardless, so cheers!
Hell of a game. I ended up putting about $800 at the last second of kick off for Spain to advance. I actually put no thought into it, and almost went with the Dutch. Both sides sure had their chances.Leave a comment:

I really wouldn't lean either way. On the other hand people think Spain is a lot weaker than it actually is because of the tight battle with Germany vs. the seemingly impressive win Holland had over Uruguay. My brain says Spain should be able to win this one, but with this game you never know as we've seen too many times during this WC.
I went with over 1.5, seems like the only safe bet. Both teams are in the hunt for the gold since they've never won it and if either one scores at any given time, it's damn sure the other team is going to put on a hell of a fight to tie it up. Even if you look at history, only 3 final WC games have ended under 1.5 during the whole time WC has been played.
Good luck with your bets guys. :beerbang:Leave a comment:

Taking Uruguay here is extremely dangerous.Hey hero...just wondering what your leans were in the last 2 games if you don't mind...im in a CBC pool currently in 3rd place out of 30,000 or so and the winner gets 15K.
Im leaning towards taking Uruguay as Germany players have said this game is meaningless to them and Klose/Podolski could miss it.
This will be the last World Cup for Klose. He is going to be gunning for Ronaldo's record, and will definitely do everything in his power to get fit for this game.
I still like Germany to win, but it is indeed pretty much a meaningless game. Therefore I wouldn't even think about wagering on this.
Only interesting bet would be: "Klose to score anytime in match". IMO:thumbs:Leave a comment:

With Spain playing Villa up top with 5 in the midfield, the play should have been the Under here. But with Germany so huge on the counter and break-out attack, I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.

del Bosque leaves out Torres, looks like they are going with the 4-5-1 type formation. This could get interesting....Leave a comment:

i'd have to agree with all your points actually .. or we could just follow paul the octopus and bet on spain .. LOL :laughing:Honestly I am just going to stay away from this match.
As a general rule, if I don't feel like I can find value in a pick...or if I don't have an edge....(or if I am not following Hero on a pick ), it is best to just stay away, watch and enjoy some great football.
My general feelings are that Germany has been playing like the best squad in the world, and Spain has looked lackluster. As a huge Deutschland supporter I want to ride them to the final. The problem is, I can see this match going any number of ways....which makes it very difficult to gamble on. Germany have the size, skill, pace and tactics to win this match, and they have certainly been playing like it up until now.
However, I am not ready to count Spain out. They have unbelievable skill, but have looked lackluster with Torres, Pique and Puyol limping around out there. If they bench Torres, who is clearly not fit, and go with a 4-5-1 type formation with Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, and Capdevila rotating from attacking to holding - they could be tough. I can see them just holding possession in the midfield and playing keep away from Germany, while looking for opportunities to feed David Villa.
The fact that Germany is missing Mueller, who has been sort of the X factor for Germany in the last couple of matches, also throws me for a loop. He is certainly replaceable with the talent Germany have, but there is no telling how they will look if he's not out there. The best thing that could happen for Germany is to snatch an early goal, which will prevent Spain from being able to hold possession in the midfield and frustrate them with a patient, passing style. This would allow Germany to assert their physicality and eventually win the match.
I don't know....too many different cross-currents and I can't really get a read one way or another. I will just stay away and enjoy the match. GO DEUTSCHLAND!
