    Favre Traded To Jets

With Brett Favre flying to New Jersey to check out the New York Jets ' new training center before joining the team tonight in Cleveland, Chad Pennington's agent reportedly is contemplating an offer from AFC East rival Miami.

The Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, Favre's hometown paper, reports the former Packers quarterback, acquired by the Jets in a late-night trade Wednesday, left Bobby L. Chain Municipal Airport on his way to Morristown, N.J. From there, it's a short drive to Florham Park, where the Jets will move prior to the start of the regular season.

Then it's off to Cleveland for a 6 p.m. press conference at Browns Stadium, where Favre's new teammates will play their preseason opener tonight. The 38-year-old, who retired in March yet orchestrated this return, will not be in uniform.

Meanwhile, the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reports that Pennington's agent has received a call from the Dolphins, where Bill Parcells is the new team president.

Pennington is expected to be released by the Jets this afternoon, though the team may have to consider holding on to him and trading him somewhere else to keep him out of their division, a situation the Packers encountered in their acrimonious break-up with Favre.

The Chiefs and Vikings also are rumored to be interested in Pennington.

Pennington would be a fantastic acquisition for the Vikings. He would play half his games in a dome where the concerns about his arm strength are lessened because there is no wind to throw against(He has some unbelievable record in the neighborhood of 13-1 in domes).

 It appears that the vikes are the least interested. Bears & Pats also interested if chad will take a backup role.

Now that Favre is a Jet, Coles and Cotchery are huge buys

Jericho Cotchery and Laveranues Coles have been dealing with Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens the last couple of years and still put up very respectable stats. Pennington has no arm so they couldnt get deep balls, and Clemens is garbage so they couldn't get any balls.

But now they have Brett Favre. He loves to take chances. Jericho Cotchery is one of the most underrated players in the game and Laveranues Coles is one the most consistent. They will both get excellent opportunities to put up big numbers.

Hell, the entire Jets team looks decent, and I'm a Pats fan. Good O Line with Mangold, Ferguson, and Faneca; a good 1-2 punch run game with Thomas Jones and Leon Washington, good receivers in Coles and Cotchery, and a decent defense with Kerry Rhodes, David Harris, and a good D Line.

They must see something in Jackson that many people don't see.

Maybe because "NoodleArm" Pennington is not an improvement in the QB position?

              NEW YORK (AP) —
Chad Pennington quickly became the odd man out once Brett Favre joined the New York Jets. Pennington was released Thursday, ending the quarterback's eight-year, injury-plagued career with the Jets.

That's debatable depending on where the Vikings think they are. Do you want the veteran's smarts and accuracy? Or the youngster's arm strength and mobility? Either way the Vikings could use a much better insurance policy than Gus Frerotte regardless if it's Pennington or someone else if they think they are a legitimate contender. It may even raise the level of play of Jackson if there is a decent quarterback in the mix for the starting role.

I think this is jackson's breakout year! His 3rd year with the team, he's got the talent, and he's got an improved team.

Chad is out there on the market now, and up for grabs. I just don't think he wants the backup role. He could make starting QB on a few teams right now, but he's not worth the $6mil. Parcels drafted him in 2000, and will probably take him. :beer2:
