RBD goes back to the well with the Louisville Kings as road dogs in the UFL Championship against DC, betting on the hot hand and a Chandler Rogers/Mr Bean QB mismatch.
Louisville Kings at DC Defenders
UFL Championship Pick on the Spread
With a 2-0 championship week I’ve now pulled even for the season at 9-9.
I nailed my call on Louisville being the better team as the Kings went into St Louis as Dogs and came out as SU winners.
(And, as predicted, St Louis coach Ricky Proehl made some boneheaded calls that likely cost his team the game.)
In addition to my article pick on the Kings, I went into The Forum on Sunday morning and posted my play on the total, correctly choosing the Over 45′.
It landed on 49.
(Be sure to check out the PredictEm Forum daily for added plays and updates.)
There’s one game left on the schedule, one chance for me to finish the season on the plus side of the ledger and win my UFL Battle with the Books, 2026.
To achieve that, I’m going back to what worked for me last week and using Louisville again.
At the beginning of the season, the Defenders were second from the top of the list for odds to win the 2026 UFL championship at +370.
The Kings were second from the bottom at +1200.
Those odds have changed drastically with DC now just a small money line favorite of -112 to Louisville’s -108, and a small Fav on the point line at -1′.
DC is coming off a W in their playoff game against Orlando, but before that they lost three in a row, including two to their opponent today, Louisville.
Louisville comes into this one winners of five in a row and seven of their last eight.
Much is being made of the fact that DC has home field advantage, but the Battlehawks have the biggest home field edge in the league (fan attendance/support-wise) and the Kings went into St Louis last week and came away with a decisive 29-20 win.
That makes the Kings 5-1 on the Rd this season so being on the road today is of little concern to me.
In their final five games the Louisville offense found their rhythm, scoring 30, 33, 37, 42, and 29, AND the Kings won both games against DC this season.
They say it’s hard to beat a team three times in the same year.
Today will test that theory.
For a little added extra drama, when DC’s starting quarterback, Jordan Ta’amu went down with injuries, backup QB Jason Bean took over, the same Mr Bean who was dumped by Louisville earlier this season, a move that put the Kings into the position they’re in today.
Since taking over as the Louisville starting QB, Chandler Rogers has a record of 6-3.
Since taking over as the DC QB in week 8, Mr Bean has a record of 1-3.
To me that makes it an obvious choice for which QB I want to ride with in this game.
The DC game plan for today is simple – run the ball and lean on their defense.
That plan will only work as long as the game is close.
That plan goes out the window as soon as Louisville pulls ahead and the Defenders are forced to rely on Mr Bean and the passing game.
Good luck with that (<-sarc.)
The DC Defenders will be in true defender mode today, as their defense tries to hold back the high flying Louisville offense AND they try to defend their title as the reigning champs.
I say they come up short.
My play:
Louisville +1'
