Notice – the word “Rant” does not appear as it usually does in this article’s title.
No need for it, nothing to rant about.
I hit three of the four picks I bought and gave out.
Let’s do the review to see if there’s anything we can learn and use to build profits in the future.

NFL Review

I gave out two plays but only one game was this week, LAR at LV.
When I saw the Rams opened at -5′ I thought the number should be higher.
When it dropped to -4′ I was a little surprised.
When it dropped to -3′ I planned to buy the hook and buy the Rams.
Since the line was moving in my favor I waited a little bit longer, and Saturday morning many houses drop the hook and I grabbed it at -3, -118.

For me, no digging into stats was necessary.
I asked myself a simple question – which was more likely, the Rams would lose their third game in a row or the Raiders would lose their fourth?
To me, the Raiders losing their fourth seemed more likely.

And then I did a two year look back, wondering how McVeigh does off a loss.
And I found this:

Last season the Rams were 2-0 SU after a loss.
They were 1-0 after two losses in a row.

The year before that they were 3-0 after a loss and 2-0 after losing two straight.

That fueled my opinion and I took the Rams.
LA scored first, a TD at the six minute mark, and the spread was never in danger after that.
They won by 15.
Over the past two seasons McVeigh’s team is now 4-0 show after two SU losses.
And a note was added to my database:

When handicapping an LAR game check to see if they are playing after a loss, or two.
Not a sole reason to bet ON them, but just another angle to look at and add to your decision making process.
(As I always preach, don’t just win or lose a game and then move on to your next handicap. Study your plays to see if there’s anything you can use in the future, and if so write it down.)

So I hit my only NFL play, moving me to 6-3 on the 6th season. The Holy Grail, 67%.

The other play I gave out in an article was Philadelphia +4 at Washington.
The analysis was posted on 10/23, a full nine days before kickoff, because I knew it was a bad opening number.
It was a good call – the line is now -3′.

Took my first loss on Miami Regular Season Wins Total Under 4′.
From the article with my analysis:
“Week Six may be the first week where they have a chance to win, facing the Jets.”

And that’s exactly what happened.
I had the Fins splitting the season’s series with the Jets so I’m going to need NY to win on the Rd at Miami, which is asking a lot the way the Jets are playing..

Next up, at Hm, the Dolphins are seven point Dogs against the Patriots. I need New England to come through so the Dolphins don’t get any momentum moving forward.

College Review

Hit two of my three plays.
I’m back in black with a slight profit going into week 8.
Normally I try to use the regular season to build up some units to play with in the postseason. But I’ve been so successful in my Bowl play that now I just want to not be in the negative at the end of the regular season.
I’m confident my Bowl picks will see me emerge victorious from my 2026 college football Battle with the Books.

The Benedict Arnold Play

I took the Over 58′ in Rutgers Northwestern, Fading the NP Under, the best play I’ve had over the last 6 years. The game landed on 56.
Afterwards, I felt like I got what I deserved, and I made the decision not to Fade the other spot that qualified for an NP Under, Colorado State/San Diego State, Un 56′.
It landed on 105, almost double the total.
Doh!

But here’s the good news.
The play that I used to buy Virginia Tech (one of my Live Dogs, was +3, won SU) is now 2-6.
That’s a 75% Fade.
And I have THREE spots that qualify this week, three games to choose from.

Be sure to check in later this week to see my article with my picks and analysis.

WNBA Update

The best bet on the board this week is, so far not being offered by any of the books.
The play – game 6, WNBA playoffs:
Which team will get more free throws, the Atlanta Dream or the Golden State Valkyries?
I don’t care how high the price on it would be if I find it I’m on Atlanta.
As this happened throughout this postseason the league and the rest will put their thumb on the scale for the team they favor.

Think I’m wrong?
Check this out:
The one-dimensional whiny little b**** baby, Angel Reese (doppelganger for Sid from Ice Age) is at it again.
She’s getting publicly trashed (and righteously so) for complaining in interviews that the Valkyries are constantly fouling her but the refs aren’t calling it and that’s why her team is down in the series two games to three.

Reality check – in the five game series the refs have gifted the league office’s patron saint Sid Reese and her team with FIFTY-TWO more free throws than the Golden State Valkyries.

The bias that the league, the officials, the announcers, and the media show her is off the charts.
Example:
From a web search on her playoff shooting percentage – “Reese is shooting just 18.9% from beyond the arc (though noted around 38.5% over a specific stretch earlier in the run)”

They can’t even give a straight stat without trying to find a way to pump her up

Same with CBS Sports. They did an article about her when she had a lucky run to put her at 38.5, but not a word about how her shooting percentages returned to Earth, dropping by more than 50%.

Down two games to three and in danger of being eliminated, watch while penalties committed by Atlanta are ignored while Golden State will be called for phantom fouls in tonight’s game.
