Weekly Review and Rant 10/7/26

Before I get to this week’s reviews here’s a reminder and example of one of the handicapping practices I preach:
LOOK AT YOUR LOSSES.
Don’t just make a bet, win or lose, and move on to the next one.
Review them. Learn from them.

Here’s a perfect example from real life:
I’m 3-2 on my NFL bets.
Looking at my two losses I see that they are both on prop bets, Winston to throw an interception and Kmet receiving yards.

I have two takeaways from this.

One, consider staying away from props.

Two, and more importantly – STICK with my betting models/methods/systems, whatever you want to call them.

Both prop bets were based on my gut feel and some basic math, neither came from any of the unique handicapping models I use.

Thus endeth the lesson.

NFL Review

I missed with the Kmet prop on Monday and for the first time this season temporarily dipped into the red zone with a negative balance.
Came back with a win on Cleveland on Thursday Night Football and got back in the profit zone.

Screwed up by not following up on my loss with Winston to throw an INT by not recommending it in his next game, knowing he couldn’t go two in a row without throwing one.
And he had two on Sunday.
Missed opportunity.

My only Regular Season Wins bet, Miami Un 4′, is proceeding as expected. I had them at 0-4 going into week five and that’s exactly where they’re at.
They now need to win five of their final 13 games.
I don’t think so.

College Review

I said going into the week that it was going to be difficult because I didn’t have any winning models to bet ON or losing models to bet AGAINST.
And I was correct.
I went 2-3 on the week, record now 9-10.

I missed on Thursday with the Over 56 in Western Kentucky/New Mexico State.
The Aggies came through for me, putting up 34 points. But the Hilltoppers screwed me. Facing a defense ranked 113th, giving up an average of 35 PPG, Western Kentucky only managed to score 13.

On Saturday, I finally had an NP Under to play, my first of the season. I had Under 63 in Ore St/Col State.
I was about a minute away from getting away with a 7-point first quarter which would put me on a great pace for the Under.
Suddenly, there were 21 points scored before I even got to the second quarter.
I shut the game off, Unders are too painful to watch when neither team has a defense.

My other loss came on Liberty -21.
Was this a pick from one of my handicapping models?
No.
What did I just say above about sticking with plays that are from my models?
Lesson learned. Again. (I hope.)

WNBA Review and Rant

I said my WNBA season was likely finished at the end of the regular season.
With a record of 31-26 I was guaranteed a profit and a victory in my 2026 WNBA Battle with the Books.
But I know this league well, and I knew there was no way they were not going to get Angel Reese into the second round of the playoffs.
Besides, Atlanta was the better team and Washington was the youngest team in the league, experience-wise for the playoffs.
I took the Dream in the series and banked another unit, 32-26 now.

Thought I was finished for the season, again.
But then came the easiest handicap I’ve ever had in any sport.

There was absolutely NO WAY the WNBA was going to allow Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham to advance in the playoffs. With the series tied at 1-1 it was an easy call to make on which team was going to advance and who was going home.

The Ace’s star A’Ja Wilson should have been disqualified from the game for going after a fan in the stands in game 2.
But the league wasn’t about to give the Fever any edge so in a blatant display of selective enforcement they released a statement claiming that Wilson never left the court, so no suspension was due.
Of course they failed to provide a picture of the foul with their statement, because it didn’t back up their cheating. Pictures of the incident clearly showed she was in the stands.

I wrote in my write up and analysis that there would be blood, and I was correct.
Caitlin Clark got knocked to the ground and came up bleeding from her mouth.
And because it was Clark no foul was called.

Later, when pressed on their obvious bias and blindness, the refs used the excuse, “We didn’t see the play so we couldn’t call a foul.”
This is understandable, after all why would they see the play? She was only going for the ball under the basket, why would they be looking at her (yes, that’s sarcasm.)

More evidence that the fix was in came on the very next play. Indiana’s Boston secured a rebound under the basket with one of the Aces draped all over her back.
This time, the refs saw it.
And they called the foul.
AGAINST Boston!

Final free throw count for the game:
Vegas 20
Fever 35.

Yup, no way the league was going to let Clark and Cunningham advance.

After my win on the Aces (a game I would have rather lost) my season ends with a final record of 33-26.
I’m thoroughly disgusted with the league and won’t watch or bet on another game this season.
And I’m not the only one.
Since Clark and the Fever were eliminated, the WNBA playoff games have seen a drop off of approximately 55% in viewership.
FIFTY-FIVE PERCENT!!!

But the league doesn’t care.
In 2026 the WNBA celebrated their 30th anniversary. And they’ve lost money in EVERY one of those 30 years.
Profit isn’t a priority for the petty little jealous, racist, bitches who make up the league’s administration, coaches, players, refs and announcers.
Clark and Cunningham had to go.
And the league made it so.
