Updated Odds as of 12/9/08:
Sam Bradford -500
Tim Tebow +350
Colt McCoy +500
Graham Harrell +5000
Shonn Greene +7500
As expected, Florida QB Tim Tebow heads up the betting odds for “most likely to win the Heisman Trophy” and for good reason. The odds aren’t too shabby either coming in at +250 which if your’re not familiar with moneyline bets means that you will PROFIT $250 for every $100 that you RISK wagering on this bet.
Other favorites in running include Missouri Tigers QB Chase Daniel at +400 and Ohio State RB Chris Wells offered up at +400 as well.
Beating out Tebow as college football’s most outstanding player won’t be an easy feat though. Tebow’s 2007 numbers which included over 20 rushing and 20 passing TD’s are insane statistics to go up against assuming he has the same type of season which he should as his maturity level has surely increased with age. He’s just a Junior this year too!
In comparison, Chase Daniels, who finished 4th in last year’s voting, threw for 33 TD’s and 4 TD’s, not shoddy numbers by any means, especially considering that he only threw 11 picks, but are a far cry from Tebow’s sick digits.
Wells, who like Tebow, is also just a Junior seems to have the the best shot outside of Tebow as he will put up some enormous numbers for the Buckeyes this season but won’t see the same spotlight that Tim will.
One would think Tebow is a shoe-in to take honors, but you know what they say…”That’s why the play the game!”. Ya just never know what result is until the fat lady sings and she ain’t coming around until December.
