This Saturday, the Ohio State Buckeyes will again be kicking off with a team that they have no business playing. Talk about a cupcake start to the season…sheesh. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane will “invade” Ohio Stadium in hopes of pulling off a major upset. Both teams come in at 1-0 overall and both teams also covered the Vegas spread in their week one showdowns. Tulsa was 45-10 winners over San Jose State while Ohio State laid the wood to Bowling Green 77-10, in a game that started with a Bowling Green 7-0 lead off an early pick six. This will be the first time these two teams have ever met and lets be honest, when it is all said and done, the Buckeyes SHOULD hold a 1-0 series lead.
The line opens with Ohio State as a 29 point favorite at home over Tulsa. The total points are set at a high 72.5. That means the bookmakers either expect Ohio State to again score at will, or do they think Tulsa will be able to put up some points themselves? Who knows.

Ohio State just like every other year usually has high expectations and anything less than a Big Ten or National Title will be considered a failure. The Buckeyes entered the season ranked number six and now that Oklahoma lost, I think when Tuesday’s rankings are released, we will see the Buckeyes sitting in the top four. or maybe top five There is still A LOT of football to go, but being in the top four means just one thing…You control your own destiny. JT Barrett, the Ohio State quarterback, can finally breathe knowing he IS the starter. For a couple of years now, the Ohio State quarterback situation was confusing and you never knew who would get the start. Now, this is Barrett’s team and this past week against Bowling Green, he showed out. Six touchdown passes, 349 yards, and a 67.7% completion rate…he looked solid. He will need to improve the pass percentage a tad once they hit the meat of the Big Ten schedule and also, the one pick he threw looked BAD, but I think that was just him not respecting the opponent early on. This will not happen against conference foes. Ohio State just needs to play Ohio State football. There is no key to victory here…just do not under estimate Tulsa, play their game, and everything should be just fine.
Tulsa needs a miracle. They do. This is not a bad team by any means, but the reality of the situation is that they just do not have the athletes to go to toe to toe with Ohio State. This is not a knock on the Tulsa program but facts are facts. Tulsa will need a huge performance out of quarterback Dane Evans, who was really less than spectacular against San Jose State this past weekend. Evans threw for just 198 yards with a completion percentage just a tad over 50% This will not work against Ohio State. The one bright spot for Tulsa is the running game. D’Angelo Brewer rushed for 164 yards on 22 carries with three touchdowns. James Flanders added another 82 yards on the ground with 14 carries. This is the key. Shorten this game. Easier said than done I know, because I do not see a Tulsa running back getting 7 yards a carry against the Buckeyes defensive front, but if Tulsa has any dreams of being the talk of week two, they better find a way.
Plain and simple. Ohio State has entered 2016 on cruise control. This will be another easy win and I am actually shocked the spread is not even higher. Go ahead and bet this game early before it gets up to a 30-33 point spread. Give up the 29 points because I think Ohio State will put Tulsa away something like 45-10.
