Nets-Celtics NBA Playoffs Betting Preview

Brooklyn took the first two games of this series at home by scores of 104-93 and 130-108, covering the spread as favorites of 8.5 points in Game 1 and nine points in Game 2. But Boston avoided a 3-0 series deficit by taking Game 3 Friday night 125-119, winning outright as a seven-point underdog and getting +270 on the money line.

The Celtics trailed the Nets out of the gate Friday 19-4 but roared back in time to lead 61-57 at the half. Boston then fell behind by a point midway through the third quarter but used a 24-6 run to go up 96-79 and hung on from there for the much-needed victory.

After shooting just under 40 percent from the field in the first two games of this series combined, Boston shot 51 percent from the field Friday night. The Celtics also out-rebounded Brooklyn 46-37.

Even with Friday’s win, Boston is only 6-11 over its last 17 games.

Meanwhile, Friday’s loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Nets.

Brooklyn finished 12 games ahead of the Celtics in the regular-season standings, 48-24 to 36-36. The Nets also swept the season series from the Celtics three games to none. So the Nets are 4-1 both SU and ATS against Boston this season, with an average winning margin of 12.5 points.

Brooklyn is also now 9-2 when its Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden all play.

On the injury front, Celtics G Kemba Walker (19 ppg this season) is listed as questionable for Sunday night after hurting a knee Friday night.

Free NBA Playoffs Pick

The Nets are the better team and the hotter team, running with all three of their Big Dogs. And playing on the road means the spread is friendlier than it would be if this game were being played in Brooklyn. We don’t consider the “zig-zag” theory of NBA playoff betting to be all that reliable, but we’re playing it here. We like the Nets on the bounce back, minus the points.
