NBA Picks
Miami Heat vs. LA Lakers Odds & Predictions 1/4/23
The Lakers closed out their 5-game road trip, winning three of their last four, beating up the lesser teams of the NBA Southeast. The loss in that run came on the road in Miami, falling 112-98. They pick up 4.5 points tonight but is that line and the home court enough to get the money? Get our capper’s advice.
Phoenix Suns vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Point Spread Pick 1/4/23
The Phoenix Suns come into tonight’s game ice-cold loser of three straight and seven of their last eight. They do catch five points but is that enough with SG Booker still out? Get our predicted spread winner.
New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers Pick
Despite the contrasting win and loss records, the Knicks actually own edges in the turnover department compared to the Pacers. This is a significant positive for New York. To complement this, despite the injuries the Knicks still get more mileage out of their bench and own a deeper roster on paper as they average 47.7 bench points compared to Indiana’s 40. The Knickerbockers will need to tap into these advantages to make this game competitive as New York stands just 5-12 SU on the road this season. Let’s look at if there is value in betting Knicks at your sportsbook.
Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons Pick
Thanks to their front court comprised of Forward Blake Griffin and Center Andre Drummond, the Pistons can actually beat the Celtics at their own game and outmuscle Boston on the boards. Detroit owns advantages in both the rebounding and blocks department, as Detroit sits fifth in the league in rebounding collating 47.5 offensive boards per game to Boston’s 46.5 offensive boards per game (9th in the NBA). Moreover, the Pistons produce 5.6 defensive blocks per game to Boston’s 3.7. Both of these edges are significant in a game forecasted to be determined by a possession. Does that make Detroit the pick? Franks has your NBA prediction.
Indiana Pacers vs. Philadelphia 76ers Pick
Indiana gave Philadelphia fits last season, but hopefully that won’t be the case again tonight. Oladipo is still being eased back into the rotation after his month-long absence, and Indiana will need more than Darren Collison to take down the Sixers. Stylistically, Indiana represents a good foil for the Sixers’ ethos. With outstanding guard play, an array of outside shooters and versatile, hard-nosed bigs, the Pacers lack a true weak point. KC looks at if Pacers +4 is the play.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns Pick
In order for Dallas fans to continue shouting Halle-Luka into the ether, the Mavericks will have to continue their hot play to dispatch the worst team in basketball. Okay, the reality is it doesn’t matter because this is the Suns. This is a don’t-beat-yourself-game with sportsbooks hanging a -7 on the Mavs despite it being a back2back. With Dennis Smith Jr. still unavailable, the Mavs continue to turn to Luka to run the show. Fortunately, their injury concerns shouldn’t be an issue against a team ranked 29th in offensive efficiency and 28th in defensive efficiency. Kyle Cash breaks down the game and offers his NBA selection.
