Which way are we going here with our free Kansas St/Texas pick?

Big 12 Tournament Betting Odds

Wednesday’s CBB betting market opened Texas at -4.5 over K State, with an over/under of right around 143. Both figures were holding steady in the early betting action.

Kansas State-Texas Betting Preview

The Wildcats just snapped a two-game losing skid by beating No. 8 Iowa State in the regular-season finale last Saturday 65-58. Kansas State, as a four-point home dog, led that game 28-24 at the half, then scored the first nine points of the second half and held on from there for the much-needed victory.

Back about a month ago the Wildcats lost three games in a row to BYU, TCU and this Longhorns outfit, good teams all. K State then beat Brigham Young and West Virginia, then lost back-to-back at Cincinnati and at Kansas, before Saturday’s win. So the Wildcats are 3-2 SU over their last five games and 6-3 ATS over their last nine.

At 18-13 overall Kansas State is on the outside looking in at the NCAA tournament right now. So the Wildcats probably need at least a couple wins in this Big 12 tournament to catch the NCAA’s attention.

Meanwhile Texas is 3-1 SU, 3-0-1 ATS over its last four games after concluding its regular season with a 94-80 victory over Oklahoma last Saturday. The Longhorns, favored at -5.5, led 40-35 at the half, then pulled away from there later leading by 21, for the W and the cover.

About three weeks ago Texas lost badly at Kansas. The ‘Horns then defeated Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, lost a tough one at Baylor, before winning Saturday.

At 20-11 overall Texas will probably receive an invite to the Big Dance regardless of what happens Wednesday night. But you know the Longhorns would like to win at least a couple games in this Big 12 tournament, just to be safe.

Texas played 9-9 SU, 8-9-1 ATS and +1 point per game in Big 12 action this season, Kansas State 8-10 SU, 10-8 ATS and -1 PPG.

Kansas State-Texas Recent History

The Longhorns own the upper hand in the series with the Wildcats as of late, winning seven of the last nine meetings outright. But Texas is only 4-5 ATS over that span, favored by a bit too much a bit too often. Most recently, one month ago, the ‘Horns beat K State 62-56 but came up just short ATS at -8.

Texas never trailed in that game although its biggest lead was only 11 points. In the end a meaningless Wildcats bucket with four seconds left decided the money.

Also, that game played under a total of 138 as the teams combined to shoot just 36 percent from the field.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Kansas State is 4-10 SU but 8-6 ATS away from home this season.

Totals Report

Totals are split 15-15 in Wildcats games this season, which are averaging 142 total points.

Overs are 19-12 in Longhorns games, which are averaging 146 points.

Free College Basketball Betting Pick

These teams are pretty close across the stat sheets but Texas shoots the ball better than Kansas State – 76 percent from the line is helpful – and takes better care of the ball. Also, a case could be made the Longhorns are playing the better ball as of late. Also, Texas out-played the Wildcats about a month ago. We like the Longhorns minus the points for Wednesday night.
