Saturday night there will be a game taking place in Stillwater, Oklahoma that could have major college football playoff implications. Yep, that is right, the Baylor Bears will travel into Boone Pickens Stadium to take on the 10-0 and ranked number eight Oklahoma State Cowboys. I will be the first to admit that I would have never seen Oklahoma State being the undefeated team headed into this week twelve match up, but, they are. Baylor was supposed to be 9-0, but just this past Saturday night they were taken down by a very hot and dangerous Oklahoma Sooners team. Now, Baylor will have to battle the other team from the state of Oklahoma. The series between these two schools dates all the way back to 1914 and since that day when Oklahoma State won the game 60-0, they have played another 32 times. The Cowboys lead the all time series 19-14 but Baylor has been victorious in two of the last three they have played.

This game may as well just be a straight pick game. Oklahoma State is favored by just a single point in most books, but there are a few that have in fact listed it as an even pick bet. This line could potentially go up more in favor of Oklahoma State seeing as how over 65% of the early action is on them. If this continues, this game could be a 2.5 3 point spread by kickoff on Saturday. The books are also expecting another Big 12 shootout with the total points set at 78 combined between the two. This will be a fun one to watch and if Oklahoma State can pull this one off, they could very well be positioning themselves for a spot in the college football playoff.

Baylor has been the most feared offense in all of college football this season. Averaging 55 points a game, the Bears are the top scoring offense in all of the FBS. They are 11th in passing and 5th in rushing in the nation as well. They seemed unstoppable all year and to be honest, the offense has been. Last Saturday night though, they were slightly slowed down by the Sooners only scoring 34 points, which in most cases should win you a game. The Bears defense however did not show up. They gave up 44 points to Oklahoma that came off of 241 yards rushing and another 270 passing. If Baylor wants to win this game and have any shot of a playoff and/or major bowl game, they must play better defense this weekend in Stillwater. Oklahoma State is a dangerous offense too and this game could very well end up being like last week if the defense does not somewhat slow down the Cowboys, at least a little. That is really it for Baylor, D UP! At least a tad.

Oklahoma State is a shock to me. I am not a real huge Big 12 guy so maybe I just overlooked a great team all season, but I could have seen Okie State going 9-3 or so, not being 10-0 headed into a very winnable game against Baylor. This may be one of the biggest games in Oklahoma State history. A win and you are just one game away from potentially playing for a nation title. They may need a little help, but a win over Baylor could very well be the resume boost they need. On the season, Oklahoma State has been solid on both sides of the ball. The offense, of course, is the life blood of this team, but the defense does have a pulse. Oklahoma State is scoring over 40 points a game and the defense is allowing 24 a contest which is usually a recipe for winning in college football, especially the Big 12. The key to winning this game and going 11-0 is quite simple: Keep doing what you been doing. If Oklahoma State can get just a few stops against the Baylor offense and if they put up points like they have all season, I like their chances. I am not saying that Oklahoma State wins big, but I think they are a better team from top to bottom. I would have never said that three weeks ago, but, thats why we play the games.

This is going to be a fun game. If Okie State wins, then they are primed to win the Big 12 and potentially make the playoff. A Baylor win could quite possibly be the cause of the Big 12 Conference again being left out of the final four. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. So, on to the pick. I like the Cowboys, I do. I have picked against them winning I think three times this year and I will not make that mistake again. Oklahoma State will come out fired up, the crowd in Boone Pickens Stadium will be hype, and the Cowboys will take Baylor by a 40-37 score.
