Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State Betting Preview

The Big 12 offers up a prime-time border battle to watch and bet when defending conference champion Kansas State takes on Oklahoma State Friday night in Stillwater.

The Wildcats won their conference opener a couple weeks ago while the Cowboys lost theirs. Both teams are coming off bye weeks.

OSU is lined as a double-digit home dog for this one. Which way are we going with our free college football betting pick?

Kansas State Numbers

The Wildcats bounced back from a tough loss at Missouri three weeks ago to beat Central Florida two Saturdays ago 44-31. Kansas State then had last week off.

K-State, as it’s done every game this season, drove its first possession against the Knights to a touchdown and led 21-17 at the half. The Wildcats then fell down to UCF 24-21 early in the third quarter but went on a 23-0 run to take control and covered at -6.

Kansas State racked up 536 yards of total offense, including 281 on the ground. And while the Wildcats defense gave up 407 yards that was nearly 200 less than Central Florida was averaging coming in.

K-State opened this season with easy wins over Southeast Missouri (FCS) and Troy, then lost that game to Mizzou 30-27 on a 61-yard field goal at the buzzer.

The Wildcats returned 13 starters this season from a team that played 7-2 in the Big 12 last year, then beat TCU in the conference championship game. So K-State thinks it’s got a shot at a return engagement to that conference title tilt.

The Cowboys opened this season with underwhelming wins over Central Arkansas (FCS) and Arizona State, then got totally outplayed at home by South Alabama and lost 33-7.

OSU returned 13 starters this season from a team that played 4-5 in the Big 12 last season. The Cowboys are trying to break in a new quarterback at the moment but it isn’t going all that well so far.

Kansas State gets our handicapping check-marks in the QB match-up, with the running game and with the better defense. And playing on the road means the spread’s a bit friendlier. If this game were being played in Manhattan the Wildcats might be favored by 16-17 points. We like K-State for Friday night.
