Coming off a devastating loss to rival Michigan State last week, the Michigan Wolverines look to bounce back when they host the Indiana Hoosiers for a Big Ten East bout Saturday night at the Big House. Michigan blew a 16-point lead last week to suffer its first loss of this season, but it’s not dead yet in the Big Ten. Indiana, on the other hand, is.

The Wolverines are favored by three touchdowns for this one; which way are we going here with our free college football betting pick?

Indiana-Michigan Betting Odds

This week’s college football betting lines opened the Wolverines as 19-point favorites over Indiana, with an over/under of right around 51. Early betting action then bumped Michigan to -20.

Any bettors thinking the Hoosiers might pull the upset here could get a price of upwards of +895 on the college football betting money line.

Indiana Betting Preview

One season after going 6-2, the Hoosiers are 2-6, after losing at Maryland last week 38-35. Indiana fell behind to the Terrapins 14-0 early but pulled to within 14-10 by the half. The Hoosiers then scored the first seven points out of the locker room to take the lead, only to almost immediately fall back down. Indiana later trailed 35-20, pulled to within one score with a minute to go but couldn’t recover an onside kick. But the Hoosiers did hang on for the cover as 3.5-point underdogs.

Indiana produced 446 yards of total offense, including 204 on the ground, but gave up 498 yards of Maryland offense.

The Hoosiers started 2-2 this season, with a bad loss to Iowa and a tough loss to still-undefeated Cincinnati. But Indiana is 0-4 SU, 1-3 ATS its last four times out.

At 0-5 in conference play, the Hoosiers are dead in the Big Ten East, and with just two victories overall over Idaho and Western Kentucky, they need to win out from here to become bowl-eligible.

Michigan Betting Preview

The Wolverines, meanwhile, are 7-1 on the season after falling last week at unbeaten Michigan State 37-33. Michigan struck first on a 93-yard pass-catch-run touchdown four minutes in, led 10-0 after one quarter and 23-14 at the half. The Wolverines then scored the first seven points of the second half to go up by 16, only to allow the Spartans to tie the game at 30-30 early in the fourth. Later Michigan led by a field and had the ball but fumbled it away, gave up another MSU touchdown to fall behind, and could not respond, going down to defeat as a four-point favorite.

The Wolverines out-gained Michigan State 552-395 and won the time of possession by a 35:25 split. They just couldn’t stop Spartans RB Walker, who ran for 197 yards, many after contact, and five touchdowns.

Michigan has now out-gained seven of its eight opponents this season and out-rushed six of eight foes.

At 4-1 in conference play, the Wolverines now trail Michigan State and Ohio State by one game in the Big Ten East. They’re not dead yet, but they certainly cannot afford another loss.

Indiana-Michigan Recent History

The Wolverines beat the Hoosiers 24 times in a row from 1988-2019, but last year Indiana beat Michigan in Bloomington 38-21. The Hoosiers won that day outright as four-point home dogs and the game played over a total of 55.

Despite last week’s result, Michigan is still alive in the fight for a conference title. If the Wolverines can win out – they still have a couple of road games, but they host Ohio State for the season finale – and get a little help from elsewhere, they could still win the Big Ten. They’re also out-rushing opponents by 114 yards per game. Indiana, meanwhile, is playing out the string on a lost season, allowing 32 points per game and down to its third-string quarterback.
