College football offers up its great late-season rivalry bout as Army battles Navy Saturday afternoon up at West Point. The Black Knights are looking to cap off a nice bounce-back season after falling under .500 last year, while the Midshipmen hope to conclude a disappointing campaign with a rivalry upset. Army is favored by a touchdown for this game, which is being played at West Point for the first time since 1943. Who do we like here for our free college football pick?

College Football Betting Odds

College football betting odds opened Army at right around -6 over Navy, with an over/under of 40. Early betting action then bumped the Black Knights to -7 and dropped that total to 38.

Navy vs. Army Betting Preview

The Midshipmen tug a four-game losing skid into Saturday after falling at home to Tulsa last week 19-6. Navy trailed the Golden Hurricane 6-0 in the second quarter, tied the score at 6-6 midway through the third but got outscored 13-0 from there, on its way toward defeat.

The Midshipmen also gave up a Tulsa field goal with three minutes left that cost them the cover as dogs of 12.5 points.
Navy, with freshman quarterback Xavier Arline making his first career, only produced 153 yards of total offense last week. But the Midshipmen defense held the Hurricane offense to just 296 yards, 66 of which came on one play and only allowed one Tulsa offensive touchdown.

Navy has now been out-gained eight times in nine games this season.
Two weeks ago, the Midshipmen, playing their first game in a month due to cancellations, lost to Memphis 10-7 but covered as 12-point dogs.

Navy actually started 3-2 this season, but thanks to the recent losing skid, it’s now down to playing Saturday’s game for pride.

Meanwhile, the Black Knights rebounded from a bad loss at Tulane three weeks ago to beat Georgia Southern last time out 28-27. Army then had the last two weeks off.

The Knights fell down to the Eagles 14-0 out of the gate three weeks ago and trailed 21-7 at the half. Army then rallied to tie the score at 21-21 midway through the third quarter, fell behind again at 27-21 but took the lead for good on a score with eight minutes to go. In the end, the Knights secured the victory with a defensive stop and stall tactic, as the last 10 seconds ran off the clock before GSU could run another play. However, Army could not cover the spread as a three-point favorite.

The Knights only produced 268 yards of total offense against Georgia Southern but only allowed 311. Army also out-rushed the Eagles 243-175 and dominated time of possession by a 38:22 split.
The Black Knights have actually been out-gained in three of their last four games. But they’ve also out-rushed each of their nine opponents this season, six of them by triple digits.

A game prior to the win over Georgia Southern, the Knights laid an egg in a 38-12 loss to Tulane. But prior to that, they’d won four in a row.

At 7-2, overall Army is headed back to a bowl, after missing out last season.

Navy-Army Recent History

Navy beat Army 14 times in a row from 2002-15, but the Knights then beat the Midshipmen three straight from 2016-18. Last year, though, Navy spotted Army the first seven points of the game, then scored the last 31 to win 31-7 and cover as a 12-point favorite.
Also, that game played under a total of 41.
