According to Sagarin’s CFB ratings, the line on this game is spot on.

West Virginia-Oklahoma Betting Preview

The Mountaineers are 2-0 both SU and ATS in their last two outings after defeating BYU last Saturday 37-7. West Virginia, as a 12-point favorite, drove its first two possessions to touchdowns, led 27-0 at the half, and kept the Cougars off the scoreboard until only six minutes remained in the game.

WVU accumulated 567 yards of total offense last week, including 336 on the ground.

The Mountaineers opened their Big 12 schedule with wins over Texas Tech and TCU, then lost to Houston and Oklahoma State. They then defeated Central Florida 41-28 and BYU.

Meanwhile, the Sooners are 0-2 both SU and ATS in their last two games after losing the Bedlam game to the rival Cowboys last Saturday 27-24. Oklahoma, favored by six points, fell behind 7-0 early, rallied to lead 21-17 through three quarters but then fell again and could not recover.

The Sooners produced 492 yards of total offense but allowed 480 yards to OSU. Oklahoma also lost the turnover battle 3-1, resulting in a -10 point differential.

OU started 7-0 this season and 4-0 in Big 12 play. However, it then lost at Kansas 38-33, followed by a loss to Oklahoma State.

Both teams sit at 4-2 in Big 12 play, one game behind Texas and OSU, who are tied for first place at 5-1. However, Oklahoma owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Longhorns. So if the Sooners can win out and make up a game on UT, they’ll make the conference championship game.

West Virginia, on the other hand, probably needs to win out and get at least a couple of games’ worth of help from elsewhere.

These two teams have played two common opponents so far this season, Central Florida and Oklahoma State. The Sooners played those foes to a 1-1 SU, 0-2 ATS, and +28 yards per game, while the Mountaineers to a 1-1 both SU and ATS and -15 YPG.

West Virginia has won two straight, while Oklahoma has lost two straight. The Mountaineers also possess the better running game and possibly even the better defense. Additionally, these teams’ performances against common opponents are very similar. And they played a close game last year. We like West Virginia plus the points.
