The Razorbacks got just what they wanted last Saturday as they handled Tennessee Tech 44-3. If the coaches had any concern regarding their QB play it quickly subsided. Hog’s QB Ryan Mallet completed 21 of 24 pass attempts for 301 yards and three touchdowns.

However, the Razorbacks were a bit sluggish in the first quarter, in fact, they were shut out! Ah, but then the second quarter began and the Hogs came alive in great fashion. After a slow start the Razorbacks found the end zone 6 times in the second and third quarters and they led 23-3 at the half. The Hogs simply outmatched Tech in nearly every category. Mallet quickly became a Heisman candidate after tossing 30 touchdown passes last season; his accuracy and confidence definitely showed against the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech. Mallet connected on 18 of his first 20 pass attempts.

Let’s be honest, UL Monroe is probably no match for the Hogs but I wouldn’t be so quick to count them out just yet as they do have some senior leadership in RB Frank Goodin. Goodin brings in over 2000 yards rushing on his resume but he will need some help from the boys in the trenches. There are some concerns at the QB position for the Warhawks as senior Troy Revell may get passed over for redshirt freshman Kolton Browning.

Offshore casinos and the Las Vegas sportbooks all, as of this writing, have the Hogs at -34 which is reasonable given the matchup. If you like the underdog and 34 points it might be worth a shot to place a bet on the mighty Warhawks!

This game should be a blowout as the Razorbacks are ranked the highest they have been in the preseason since 1990. With a QB in Mallet, who decided to pass up the NFL for another season, the Hogs will be a tough opponent for any program.

While we can’t really comment too much on the Warhawks as they have yet to play a game, but the Razorbacks looks solid. The Hog’s defense albeit playing against less talented opponents looks really fine tuned, but they probably won’t get a true test until week three when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Razorbacks are 0-1 ATS and 1-0 O/U and they might be in for a fight come next Saturday as the last time they played ULMON they squeaked out a 28-27 win, lost the spread, and the TOTAL was UNDER. This will be the last “tune-up” for the Hogs before they jump into another grueling schedule with their next three games versus Georgia, Alabama, and Texas A&M.

Arkansas does have some player issues as OL Anthony Oden (DWI charge) and FB Van Stumon (DWI charge) may be questionable for Saturday’s game as they face potential suspension. Also, out for the season is WR Carlton Salters (personal reasons).

There really isn’t much to report about UL Monroe as far as posing a threat to the Razorbacks as this game will be over before it starts.

Wilson’s Pick to Cover the Spread: Historically, college football favs over -32 are an absolutely HORRIBLE proposition. The value here is with ULM to cover. Good luck!
