Wake Forest tries to pick up where it left off last weekend unraveling the Pres-By God-byterian Blue Hose by a count of 31-7. Thats Right! The Presbyterian Blue Hose!! Who in the name of all that is good and righteous would nickname a college football team the Blue Hose!??! The mascot must be a walking Leg Lamp (reference: A Christmas Story) adorned in a sheer pair of blue nylonsor a stinkin sad female Martian who always carries change for a Hundred!! Anyway, the Blue Hose did not lay down for the Demon Deacons and fought against every push and shove the Demon Deacons could muster. In the end (It is difficult to write this!!!), the Blue Hose became submissive against the Demon Deacons relentless advances submitting in classic form while retaining Blue Hose dignity! Boston College won alsothey beat Villanova—and the win was not noteworthy. BC and Wake Forest both did not cover as favorites and Wake Forest looked like a pretty good High School team in their win. BC is seeking a Home-and-Home with the Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichokes to get more interest in the program.

No, Presbyterian is not goodthey are very, very bad at playing the game of football. Wake Forest is going to lose games this year; many, many games. BC didnt exactly light up the dance floor against Villanova; BC was down 14-7 at halftime. This game is a tough call since both teams seem to be worrying more about attending class than posing for Saturday afternoon cameras (and we cant have that!!). BCs Head Coach lit a match at halftime in the locker room and BC responded with a 17-0 second half shutout. Wake Forest looked like poo for 60 minutes teasing The Blue Hose who didnt win a conference game in 2012. Wake was actually down to Presbyterian 7-0 in the first quarter! BC, on the other hand, needed +3 turnovers to finally put Villanova away giving the Eagles a tiny bit of momentum coming into the Wake Forest game.

Wake Forest QB Tanner Price threw for 219 yards and 1 touchdown and Jonathon Williams caught 5 balls for 143 yards. Wake Forest had 5 punts and 3 three and out stalls and gave up an interception return for a TD. The Hose had 6 turnovers which usually would signal a blowout but the Demon Deacons did everything they could to keep the Blue Hose in the game. BCs Chase Rettig threw for 285 yards and 2 TDs and Alex Amidon caught 13 passes for 146 yards and 1 TD. RB Andre Williams ran for 114 on 23 attempts adding a little bit of hope towards sustaining drives in the BC circle. Neither team impressed anyone (except loyal fanatics!) last weekend. Lets go straight to the numbers to get an edge with this Battle of the Somnambulant!

Did you know… that you can bet on college (and pro) football games at -105 instead of -110? Yes, it’s true and you’ll save OODLES of cash by making the switch to reduced juice betting at 5Dimes Sportsbook!

Wake Forest is 1-5 ATS in its last six games while BC is 2-4 ATS in the same six. Wake is 1-7 in its last 8 ATS on the road but Wake is 2-0 when theyre a road underdog of 3 points or less. When the line is +3 or -3 Wake is 3-3 ATS and BC is 2-2 ATS. The last 2 games between Wake and BC have gone UNDER. 70% of the betting public has put their money on Wake Forest getting +3. We can stop everything right there! Now it is time to predict.

The Socratic Rule must be invoked to predict who will win the battle between dismally equal Wake Forest and Boston College. Used maybe once per year, the Socratic Rule is this: The majority of the people are wrong the majority of the time. Casinos make billions from this rule and goofy bookies clean wallets of their contents because of this rule. It is quite easy to understand why most people believe Wake Forest will cover at Boston College; most everyone else thinks they will cover! BC and Wake are not very good football teams right now. Most bettors are not very good bettors. Put them together and you get the Socratic Rule; its the oldest play against the House!

Tims Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Boston College -3
