Ok everyone!! You know what time it is!! Football Friday Night. Nope, we are not talking about you local high school game, we have an NCAA Pac-12 contest on tap for that evening. The Washington Huskies will travel to take on the California Golden Bears in a Pac-12 Northern Division battle. It’s quite evident that neither of these schools will be competing for a Pac-12 championship, but they are both in the hunt for a bowl game berth. Washington sits at 4-4 overall while the Golden Bears are at an abysmal 3-6 so far on the season. I can see this contest going either way since both teams are very hard to gauge from week to week. Cal is known for their offensive speed and wide open attack, while I see Washington as a very hard-nosed well balanced team. Nothing that can happen in this game will surprise me, but we got to make a decision so let’s check out these two teams.

The Washington Huskies are 4-4 overall which is not very impressive, however, let us take a closer look at them. Let’s just throw this fact out there, the Washington Huskies got no love from the “schedule gods.” So far, the dogs have played 5 top 15 teams, that’s right, 5 of them. This gauntlet they found themselves trying to survive included Oregon, LSU, Oregon St, Stanford, and USC. Not many other teams in college football can compare to that strength of schedule. If most programs played this run of games, they may even have a much worse record than Washington’s so-so .500 mark. The Huskies have been able to pull off upsets over Stanford and Oregon State while only ranking 105th nationally in points scored and 68th in the land in scoring “D.” Even in a loss to USC, Washington hung tough and played hard, and that’s what impresses me most about this team, they play hardalways. I firmly believe Washington is one of the most underrated teams in the nation and in my humble opinion, they are the best 4-4 team we have seen in years, possibly ever.

Most sportsbooks offer -110 odds when you bet on a game. Did you know that you can bet at -105? This will save you oodles of cash! Do the wise thing and make the switch today to 5 Dimes Sportsbook!

Now let’s discuss California, or as most of us call them, Cal. The Golden Bears are sitting at just 3-6 on the season but they, just like Washington, have not had an easy time with the schedule they were dealt. California has already faced off against Stanford, USC, Ohio State, and UCLA. They had a very impressive performance in their 43-17 win over the UCLA Bruins, and they also looked very strong in their 35-28 loss at Ohio Stateactually, let me just say this, Ohio State got lucky in that game. Very lucky. Statistically, Cal does rank ahead of Washington in scoring and defense and like we said, they’re schedule wasn’t much easier. With all that said and taken into consideration, Cal still hasn’t had a good season. As earlier stated, they are just 3-6 and will need one heck of a finish this season to make a bowl game. They do matchup well with Washington so this should be a fun one to watch.

Bob’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: I really like Washington to pull the upset here. The Huskies are on a 6-1 run against the spread versus teams with a losing record while Cal has only covered the spread once in their last six games played at home. As for the game being held on Friday night, Washington is 4-0 versus the spread in these games. Stats aside, I just really like how Washington plays football. Cal does have lots of speed but to me, this 4.5 point spread is simply in place because Cal is getting that home love. Not going to matter. Washington keeps this game close and they may even with the thing late. My Pick: Washington Huskies +4.5
