Where: Fiserv Center

TV: ESPN

Point spread: Brook +3.5/Mil -3.5

Total: 234

After taking the first two games of this best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals series at home, the Nets shoot for what would be a commanding 3-0 series lead when the teams meet again Thursday night in Beer City. But Brooklyn will play at least this game, and maybe more, without one of its Big 3, with James Harden sidelined by injury. Might that leave the door open for a Milwaukee comeback? Here’s our homework for this Game 3 with our free NBA pick against the spread.

NBA Playoffs Betting Odds

The NBA playoffs betting market opened Milwaukee at -3.5 for this Game 3 over Brooklyn, with an over/under of right around 234. Both those figures were holding steady in the early betting action.

Those bettors out there wishing to eschew the point spread could find the Bucks at -146 on the Game 3 money line at SportsBetting.ag, with the Nets getting +135 at Intertops.

On the NBA futures market, Brooklyn is also now lined as a -480 favorite to win this series, with Milwaukee getting +380 as the underdog.

Nets-Bucks NBA Betting Preview

Brooklyn grabbed Game 1 of this series last Saturday 115-107, then blew Milwaukee out 125-86 in Game 2 Monday. The Nets shot 47 percent from the field Saturday, then shot 52 percent from the floor Monday.

Brooklyn actually trailed the Bucks early in Game 1 but took control in the third quarter and basically led by double-digits for most of the second half. The Nets then pounced out to a 36-19 lead after one quarter in Game 2 and never let Milwaukee back in it, later leading by 49 points, on their way toward victory.

Brooklyn covered the spread as a 3.5-point favorite in Game 1, then won Game 2 outright as a two-point underdog.

Also, Games 1 and 2 both played under totals of 239.

With Tuesday’s win/cover, Brooklyn is now 6-1 both SU and ATS this playoff season.

With Tuesday’s loss, Milwaukee is now 4-2 SU, 3-3 ATS this postseason.

The Nets played their entire first-round series with their Big 3 of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving and beat Boston in five games. On the season, Brooklyn is 10-3 SU, 9-4 ATS with those three in the lineup. However, Harden left Game 1 of this series early with a strained hamstring, missed Game 2, and is listed as out for this Game 3. On the season, the Nets are 34-7 SU, 23-18 ATS with Harden, 20-18 SU, 21-17 ATS without him.

The Nets played two games better than the Bucks in the regular-season standings, 48-24 to 46-26, but Milwaukee took the season series from Brooklyn two games to one. The Nets won the first meeting back in January 125-123 without Irving. The Bucks then took the second meeting 117-114 in May as Brooklyn played without Harden. Milwaukee then won the third meeting two days later, 124-118, as the Nets again played without Harden.

Free NBA Playoffs Pick

Brooklyn is 36/81 from 3-point land through the first two games of this series, Milwaukee 14/57. But we gotta believe some shots will start to fall for the Bucks. The Nets basically ran Milwaukee right off the floor over the last six quarters they’ve played in this series, but these two teams are closer than that. We still expect this series to go at least six games, and for that to happen, the Bucks should win Game 3. So we like Milwaukee minus the points for our free NBA playoffs pick for Thursday.
