Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants

Arizona is a 1.5-point road favorite over the Giants with a total of 44.5. My play is the Under.
The Jameis Winston factor is the entry point here. Since Winston took over as the Giants’ starting quarterback for the injured Jaxson Dart (torn knee, out for season), New York has scored just 18 points across his extended playing time. That’s an offensive ceiling as hard as any in the NFL. The Giants have fallen to 19th in the NFL in EPA per play and 19th in success rate since Winston took the reins. Whatever offense Dart was leading has been replaced by a limited, interception-prone version that struggles to sustain drives.
Winston’s identity is the interception. He’s a proven veteran with a specific pattern — throw the ball hard, take chances downfield, and turn the ball over. Against a Cardinals defense that’s been solid in some spots (ranking 8th in EPA per rush), the Giants will produce turnovers and short possessions. Realistic Giants offensive output: 13-17 points. That’s the actual ceiling of a Winston-led offense against a competent defense.
The Cardinals’ offense has been inconsistent too. They scored 26 in Week 1 against the Chargers but just 7 points against Seattle in Week 2. Even in their Week 3 loss to San Francisco, they scored 20 points but were held below the pace needed to win. Jacoby Brissett is a game manager who won’t force big plays and will struggle to produce more than 20-24 points against a Giants defense at home. Realistic Cardinals output: 20-24 points.
Combined output range: 33-41 points. Well under 44.5.
Both teams’ Under trends support the play. The Under is 2-1 in the Cardinals’ games this season. The Under is 2-1 in the Giants’ games this season. That’s a compound effect where both teams’ offensive limitations produce below-market totals with regularity.
The Giants’ key injuries also matter. Brian Burns is out on defense — that’s a significant pass rush loss. Devin Singletary, Deonte Banks, and Tyler Nubin are all questionable. A depleted Giants roster with a limited quarterback creates the exact profile of an offense that struggles to score and a defense that gives up big plays only in specific situations.
The total dropped from 45.5 to 44.5. That’s Under money coming in as sharp bettors recognize the specific offensive limitations on both sides. When both spread and total move in coordinated directions, the market is signaling something specific about the game.
Realistic outcomes: Cardinals 21, Giants 17 (38 total); Cardinals 24, Giants 20 (44 total, under by 0.5); Cardinals 20, Giants 17 (37 total); or Cardinals 27, Giants 24 (51 total, over). Three of four scenarios stay under 44.5. Only if Winston completely finds his rhythm and both offenses avoid turnovers does the total push over.
The Pick: Cardinals/Giants Under 44.5
