The 49ers are heating up while the Seahawks are going cold, heading into this NFC West rivalry bout slated for Sunday afternoon in Seattle. San Francisco looked like it was in trouble a few weeks ago, but it’s won three games in a row to pull back above .500. The Seahawks, on the other hand, are 1-6 their last seven times out and probably dead in the NFC playoff picture.

NFL Betting Lines

The Week 13 NFL betting odds opened San Francisco as a 2.5-point divisional road favorite for this game, with an over/under of right around 46. Early betting action then bumped the Niners from one side of three to the other.

49ers Betting Preview

San Francisco is 3-0 both SU and ATS its last three times out after beating Minnesota at home last week 34-26. The 49ers spotted the Vikings the first seven points of the game but scored late in the second quarter to take a 14-14 tie into halftime. San Francisco then scored twice in the first four minutes of the second half to go up by 14, let Minnesota get within 31-26 with four minutes left but held on for the victory and the cover at -4.

The Niners out-gained the Vikes 423-323, out-rushed Minnesota 208-67, and won time of possession by a 37:23 split.

So San Francisco has out-gained and out-rushed (by large margins) each of its last three opponents.

At 6-5 overall, the 49ers trail division-leading Arizona by three games in the NFC West, but they also own the No. 6 spot in the NFC playoff standings, a game clear of four other teams.

Seahawks Betting Preview

Seattle, meanwhile, lugs a three-game losing skid both SU and ATS into Sunday after falling at Washington Monday night 17-15. The Seahawks actually led early 7-3 and used a blocked extra point return for two points to take a 9-9 tie into halftime. Seattle then fell down by eight in the third quarter, used a defensive stand and a 96-yard drive for a touchdown in the last half-minute to get within two but came up empty on a conversion attempt of its own.

The Seahawks got out-gained by Washington 371-267, out-rushed 152-34, and lost time of possession by a huge 42:18 split.

Seattle has now been out-gained by each of its last ten opponents and out-rushed by nine of its last ten foes. So basically, this is just not a very good team right now.

At 3-8 overall, it looks like the Seahawks are playing out the string on the Russell Wilson era.

49ers-Seahawks Recent History

Seattle owns a three-game winning streak over San Francisco, going 2-1 ATS in the process. Most recently, back in Week 4 of this season, the Seahawks beat the Niners in Santa Clara 28-21. Seattle actually got out-gained by San Francisco that day 457-234 but won the turnover battle 2-0, resulting in a +7 points differential. Just enough to win that game.

San Francisco is out-rushing opponents this season by 19 yards per game – and by big numbers recently – while Seattle is getting out-rushed by 32 YPG. And in the NFL, teams that win the ground battles cover the spread about 65 percent of the time. Also, while the 49ers lost to the Seahawks earlier this season, they basically dominated that game; the turnovers cost‘em. We like San Francisco here. Bankroll taking a beating?
