NFC SOUTH SHOWDOWN PREVIEW: TAMPA BAY VS NEW ORLEANS:

What if I told you that heading into week five of the NFL season that not only would the Tampa Bay Buccaneers be within a game of the division lead, but they would be in contention with the New Orleans Saints…WHO ARE WITHOUT DREW BREES!? Well, that is the case, and not only are both teams coming off of wins, but they are coming off of stunning wins. The Saints won a defensive battle against an undefeated Dallas Cowboys team, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveled to the west coast and destroyed the defending NFC Champion, Los Angeles Rams by a score of 55-40. This is a huge game for both teams, and a win for either would be extremely beneficial down the stretch in the NFC South.

Historically, these two teams are very familiar with each other. Seeing as how they are both in the NFC South, they face off two times a year. While over the course of the last 10-15 years, the Saints have enjoyed much more success, these two teams play very competitive football games. In the last six meetings, not only is the series tied at 3-3 against the Vegas spread, but the series is also tied at 3-3 straight up. I see yet another wild and close game this Sunday. Of course, being in the Superdome, the Saints have a huge advantage, but can their offense keep up with Tampa and a Jameis Winston THAT MAY HAVE finally found his stride?

HOW THE PUBLIC IS BETTING TAMPA AND NEW ORLEANS:

As of noon on Wednesday, the betting public liked New Orleans, and they like them A LOT! 63% of the action was on the Saints to get the home win and cover while less than 40% thought the Buccaneers would win or at least keep within the spread. Also, as for the total points, the public likes the over…58% of the action thinks this game goes over the posted total of 47 combined points. Call me crazy, but for some reason, I like Tampa. At some point missing Drew Brees has to take its toll on the Saints. It would have last week, but remember, New Orleans was playing a mediocre and overrated Dallas team…yeah, I said it.

WHY THE TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS WILL COVER AGAINST THE SAINTS ON SUNDAY:

Not only do I see Tampa keeping this game close, but I also have this weird, weird feeling that they win the game outright. Yes, I know they are playing in New Orleans, but at some point, the Saints have to have that “well if Drew Brees wasn’t hurt” game, and I think this is the one. I see Tampa having just enough success against a New Orleans defense that ranks right in the middle of the pack in the NFL. Yes, the Bucs are not a defensive juggernaut, but I think this Sunday, Teddy Bridgewater comes back to earth and has trouble against a hungry and somewhat confident Tampa defense. Trust me, looking at the numbers, I realize it is a very ballsy pick taking the Bucs, but I see a high scoring 31-27 win for Tampa in New Orleans on Sunday. Yes, I think Tampa wins the game and makes the NFC South race even weirder than it already is.

MVP OF THE GAME:

As much as I think this guy is a joke, I have this gut feeling that Tampa Bay quarterback, Jamies Winston will go off again. This past week in Los Angeles, he lit the Rams up for four touchdown passes and just one pick. Maybe something clicked, perhaps the Tampa offense is about to go on a run. I foresee a Tampa Bay win, and I like Winston to pass for about 250 yards and two scores while throwing ZERO INTERCEPTIONS in an upset win at New Orleans.

Bob’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Take the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to go into New Orleans and not only cover the point spread, but to win straight up on the money line! Bet the Bucs a +20.5 underdog or Who Dat as a +16.5 dog by inserting either into a GIANT 20 point NFL teaser at Wagerweb Sportsbook!
