Buffalo Bills at Las Vegas Raiders
Sunday, October 18, 2026
4:25 PM ET, Allegiant Stadium

Buffalo is a 5.5-point favorite with the total at 53.5. My play is Bills -5.5.

Monday night in Los Angeles was the statement. Josh Allen threw for 210 and a score, ran for 121 and another, James Cook piled up 121 on the ground with two touchdowns, and Buffalo walked out of SoFi with a 37-34 overtime win over the Rams. That is a Super Bowl contender playing like one. Now the short week dumps them into Allegiant against a Raiders team that opened 3-0, then got punched in the mouth by Kansas City and flat-out embarrassed 45-17 in New England.

Allen’s offense does not need much help. Buffalo leads the NFL at 32.8 points a game and 6.7 yards per play. Third-down conversion rate sits at 50 percent. Red-zone touchdown rate is 71.4 percent. Allen already has eight rushing touchdowns to go with seven through the air. The Raiders’ pass rush is real — second in pressure rate, fifth in sack rate — but pressure without a run game behind it is a one-trick pony. Las Vegas is averaging 3.0 yards per carry. Ashton Jeanty has 291 yards on 88 carries and zero rushing scores, and he is questionable with an ankle. When you cannot run, Kirk Cousins has to win every down from the pocket.

Cousins has been better than the narrative suggested — 1,269 yards and 12 touchdowns through five games, with Brock Bowers (312 yards, three scores in three games) as the safety valve. Buffalo’s defense is the soft underbelly here. The Bills allow 28.2 points a game and rank near the bottom of the league in passing yards allowed. That is why the total is ballooned to 53.5 and why the over is 7-0 in the last seven Bills-Raiders meetings. Las Vegas can score. The question is whether they can keep pace for four quarters after a 28-point road beating.

The Raiders’ early magic is fading

Those first three wins came with a thin margin for error and a lot of Cousins hero ball. The Chiefs exposed it. The Patriots buried it. Las Vegas is still 4-1 against the spread on the season, which is why sharp money has dribbled onto the plus side and shaved this number from an opener near -6.5 down toward -5.5. Respect the ATS record. Do not confuse it with a team that can hang with Allen when Buffalo’s offense is rolling.

Ed Oliver is expected to miss for Buffalo, and a few offensive linemen and Dee Alford are questionable. The Raiders have Jalen Nailor out (concussion) and Trey Zuhn out on the interior. Neither side is fully healthy. Buffalo’s talent gap is still wide enough.

The case against me. Cross-country travel after a Monday night overtime war is a real tax. Allegiant is a dome, so weather is a non-factor and Cousins gets a clean pocket to sling it. If Buffalo’s secondary has another soft afternoon and Jeanty is active enough to nudge the run game, this becomes a 34-31 type of game that loses by a field goal. The number has already moved against the favorite once.

Projected score: Bills 31, Raiders 24.

The Pick: Bills -5.5
