Quick Recap:
• Record: 1-2
• Units: -1.8
• Best Win: Minnesota Twins ML (+1.2u)
• Tough Loss: Pittsburgh Pirates ML (-2.0u)

Joe Jensen finished April 27, 2026, down -1.8 units on a 1-2 record, as late-inning collapses derailed two of his three main plays. A 2-unit loss on the Pittsburgh Pirates and a 1-unit setback on the Los Angeles Angels overshadowed a solid 1-unit win on the Minnesota Twins, leaving the handicapper in the red for the day.

Cardinals at Pirates

Jensen opened the day with a 2-unit play on the Pittsburgh Pirates (-131) at home against the St. Louis Cardinals, but the Pirates couldn’t hold a 2-0 lead in a crushing 4-2 defeat. Lost. After backing Pittsburgh in their previous game against Milwaukee (a loss), Jensen returned to the Pirates in the series opener, but the bet unraveled in the ninth inning. Four Pittsburgh pitchers combined to nearly throw a perfect game through 6 2/3 innings, with Alec Burleson finally breaking through with a two-out infield single in the seventh off Evan Sisk. The Pirates carried their 2-0 advantage into the ninth, but the Cardinals exploded for four runs to steal the game. Pedro Pages and JJ Wetherholt hit consecutive home runs before Jose Fermin delivered the decisive blow with a tiebreaking two-run double. Fermin finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Nick Gonzales went 3-for-4 with a double and a run for Pittsburgh in a losing effort. The late-inning meltdown turned what looked like a comfortable winner into a 2-unit loss.

Angels at Sox

Jensen’s second play backed the Los Angeles Angels (-120) for 1 unit at Chicago, but the White Sox rallied from a 5-1 deficit to win 8-7 in another late-inning heartbreaker. Lost. The Angels came in off an 11-9 loss to Kansas City, while the White Sox were listed as coming from a Red Sox-Orioles game in the data. Los Angeles built a comfortable four-run cushion behind Jorge Soler’s solo homer and Mike Trout’s two hits and two runs scored, but the seventh inning proved disastrous. Chicago erupted for seven runs in the frame, highlighted by Munetaka Murakami’s three-run homer. Andrew Benintendi added three RBIs and Miguel Vargas contributed a solo shot as the White Sox improved to 6-4 in their last 10 games. The Angels added a run in the eighth but couldn’t complete the comeback, leaving Jensen with another 1-unit loss on a blown lead.

Mariners at Twins

Jensen salvaged the day with a 1-unit winner on the Minnesota Twins (+119) at home against Seattle, as the Twins cruised to an 11-4 victory. Won. After a previous winning bet on Tampa Bay against the Twins, Jensen pivoted to back Minnesota in the series opener. Kody Clemens powered the offense with a home run and five RBIs, while Byron Buxton also went deep. Connor Prielipp earned his first big league win in just his second MLB appearance, giving up two runs on one hit with three walks and five strikeouts. The Twins’ No. 5 prospect, called up from Triple-A St. Paul, stifled the Mariners through his outing. Minnesota built the lead methodically with a 1-0 advantage in the second, a four-run third inning, and two more in the fourth to take control. Cal Raleigh homered and drove in two for Seattle, but the Mariners never threatened after falling behind early. The comfortable 11-4 final gave Jensen a 1-unit profit and prevented a complete washout.

Beer Money & Parlay Plays

Jensen’s side plays went 0-2 on the night, with both lean recommendations falling short.

Rays at Guardians

The Cleveland Guardians (-143) lost to Tampa Bay 3-2 in a tight contest. Lost. The Guardians couldn’t generate enough offense to overcome the Rays in a low-scoring affair.

Sox at Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays (-143) were shut out by Boston 5-0. Lost. The Red Sox blanked Toronto completely, handing Jensen’s second side play a decisive loss.

April 27 proved to be a difficult day for Jensen, as ninth-inning and seventh-inning collapses turned two promising leads into losses. The Pirates’ bullpen implosion and the Angels’ blown four-run advantage resulted in a -1.8 unit deficit despite the Twins providing a comfortable winner. With both side plays also missing, the handicapper will look to rebound on the next slate.
