North Florida Ospreys at No. 22 UCLA Bruins
Friday, November 6, 2026
10:30 PM ET, Pauley Pavilion
UCLA is a 31.5-point favorite at most books with a total of 155.5. My play is North Florida +31.5.
The Bruins just took down No. 5 Arizona behind Trent Perry’s 21 points and a statement win that will live on the preseason resume all year. Now an Atlantic Sun visitor walks into Pauley Pavilion and the market wants more than 31 points. Signature wins are expensive. So are the nights after them.
Arizona was the emotional peak. This is the cleanup shift.
Perry went a perfect 11-of-11 at the line in the opener. Eric Dailey Jr. and Jaylen Petty are already filling out the stat sheet. UCLA sits inside the top 20 of the early efficiency board by the adjusted-margin priors, which is exactly where a Bruins club that can beat Arizona should live. None of that automatically equals a 32-point home cover against a team that will foul, stall, and survive.
North Florida opened with a 71-63 win over Cal Baptist. Kent Jackson led five Ospreys in double figures. That is not a world-beater resume, but it is a roster that can string enough half-court possessions together to keep a deficit in the mid-20s while UCLA empties the bench.

The math on 31.5
Early KenPom-style gaps put UCLA roughly 35 points of adjusted efficiency ahead of North Florida on paper. Translate that to a home game and you land in the high 20s to around 30 before you charge for deep-bench minutes and a classic post-upset letdown. The market is asking for the wipeout version of that projection. I would rather own the cushion.
Pauley will be buzzing. The Bruins should win by plenty. Covering 31.5 means the starters stay greedy deep into the second half or the reserves look like starters. Opening week rarely delivers both.
What could go wrong. UCLA might still be flying from Arizona and bury the Ospreys before the undercard even checks in. Talent gaps this wide do produce 40-point nights. We are also dealing with one-game samples on both sides, so the priors do more work than the box scores.
I am fine being wrong in a blowout. I am not fine laying 31.5 after the Bruins already spent their emotional capital on Monday.
Projected score: UCLA 86, North Florida 58.
The Pick: North Florida +31.5
