The Boise State Broncos will host the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors this Saturday night in Boise. BSU erased any doubts that they are indeed a team that can make a run and earn a major bowl game come December or January. After losing earlier this season to BYU, the Broncos have been on a terror. Despite losing their starting QB the Broncos havent missed a beat literallytheyve beat every opponent soundly outside of BYU. Hawaii comes into this game at 2-2 with both losses against powerhouse Ohio State 38-0 and then No. 22 Wisconsin 28-0 but they held their own for at least a half in each of those contests. However, the Warriors will need to play flawless football in Boise if they want a chance to steal a rare road win in Albertsons Stadium.
Boise State called on QBs Brett Rypien and Thomas Stuart to fill the void by injured starter Ryan Finley. But it was the freshman Rypien who stole the show in Virginia. Rypien, the nephew of former Washington Redskins Super Bowl MVP QB Mark Rypien was fantastic in his national debut. The freshman sensation threw for 321 yards on 24 of 35 passing and 3 touchdowns. Not only were Rypiens numbers impressive but his demeanor on the field was that of a 4-year veteran. He made the plays he needed, he got up immediately after he took some big hits, and he orchestrated drive after drive in what turned into a complete route of the Cavaliers 56-14.
The Bronco defense was just as impressive as they forced 5 turnovers which led to points. Boise State is one of the best teams in the country for putting pressure on QBs and getting turnovers for points. The defense had two pick 6s and simply dominated a stunned Virginia team and a disappointed Virginia crowd. Boise State even forced a safety which also led to another touchdown. It was Virginias third worse loss under the current coaching staff. If youre a Boise State fan you have the best of both worlds with a dominant D that either scores on TOs or sets up the BSU offense for scoring opportunities.

The last time Boise State played Hawaii they beat them 49-14 which is close to what theyve been doing to most teams this season besides BYU of course. The Broncos are 1-1 ATS at home this season and look to move that up to 2-1 but to Hawaiis credit they are a fighting group who will not go down too easily. Hawaii has a chance to finally show the nation how tough they can be as they really have played in lopsided games all year to this point. They have either been big under dogs or decent favorites. This week they play the role of the dog once again but they just might hang in there and cause enough havoc to cover the spread. Okay, so they probably wont cover but I had to sprinkle some hope to those who are leaning that way. If the point spread doesnt suit you I believe the total, 50-51.5 depending on the sports book you like may be the best bet. This game will go way over 51.
If Hawaii can slow down the Broncos fast paced offense and avoid costly turnovers they just might cover the points. Las Vegas books opened with BSU -24 which we all know can move as game day approaches but they dont build casinos in the desert because the books lose a lotI like Boise State to punch the gas pedal this week behind the young arm of freshman Brett Rypien who will have at least four TD passes in route to another Boise State home W on the blue turf. BSU proves to be too fast, too strong, and too dominant for the Warriors.
There is no paradise for Hawaii on the mainland! I like Boise State to win 59-17 in a blowout. Luck to ya.
