After falling to one unbeaten team last week, Texas meets another when it hosts Oklahoma State for another big Big 12 bout Saturday afternoon in Austin. The Longhorns just pissed away a game against Oklahoma last week and now take on another Big 12 contender in the Cowboys, who are 5-0 for the second straight season.

Texas is favored here by one of those numbers in between key football numbers. Which way are we going with our free college football betting pick?

Oklahoma State-Texas Betting Odds

This week’s college football betting lines opened Texas as a five-point favorite over OSU, with an over/under of around 60.5. Early betting action then bumped the ‘Horns to -5.5 and dipped that total to 60.

Any bettors out there thinking the Cowboys might win this game outright, which could certainly happen, could get upwards of +190 on the college football money line.

Oklahoma State Betting Preview

The Cowboys are 5-0 on the season after beating Baylor two weeks ago, 24-14. They then enjoyed last week off.

Oklahoma State drove the opening possession of the game two weeks ago 75 yards to a touchdown and later scored just before the half to lead 14-0 into the locker room. The Cowboys then allowed the Bears to get within 17-14 early in the fourth quarter but added an insurance score on a fourth down with two minutes left to secure the victory and the cover as four-point favorites.

OSU out-gained Baylor 401-280, out-rushed the Bears 219-107 and won the time of possession by a 35:25 split. All of which helped the Cowboys overcome three interceptions thrown by QB Spencer Sanders.

Just before that, Oklahoma State beat Kansas State 31-20, covering at -6, and just before that, it won outright at Boise State 21-20 as a dog of 3.5 points. Going back to the end of last season, the Cowboys own a seven-game winning streak, going 5-2 ATS in the process.

Texas Betting Preview

The Longhorns, meanwhile, are 4-2 on the season after blowing a three-touchdown lead and losing the Red River Shootout to Oklahoma last week 55-48. Texas scored on the first play from scrimmage, led 14-0 less than two minutes into the game, and 28-7 after one quarter. The ‘Horns still led 38-20 at the half and 41-23 late in the third quarter, then gave up the next 25 points of the game to fall behind 48-41. Texas then tied the game with a minute and a half to go but let the Sooners go right down the field and win it with a touchdown from 33 yards out with three seconds left.

Not only did the Longhorns piss away the game, but also the cover as four-point underdogs.

Texas produced 516 yards of total offense last week but gave up 662 yards of Oklahoma offense, including 339 on the ground, and lost time of possession by a 36:24 split.

Two weeks ago, the Longhorns won at TCU 32-27, covering at -4; three weeks ago, they beat Texas Tech 70-35, covering at -9; and four weeks ago, they blanked Rice 58-0, cashing in at -26. So there’s nothing wrong with Texas offensively; defensively, though, is another matter.

Oklahoma State-Texas Recent History

The Longhorns lead this series all-time 26-9, but the Cowboys are 7-4 both SU and ATS over the last 11 meetings. Last year, though, Texas went into Stillwater and beat a 5-0 Oklahoma State team 41-34 in overtime.

Free College Football Betting Pick

Oklahoma State is unbeaten, playing excellent defense and working off a bye week. Texas, on the other hand, is coming off a huge, emotional effort last week and might be primed for a let-down this week. Plus, the ‘Horns are giving up 200 yards per game on the ground. We like the Cowboys here, and they might not even need the points. Did you know that 20-point college football teasers exist? That’s like moving the line 3 touchdowns!
