RBD lays the double-digits with the New York Liberty in tonight’s WNBA Commissioner’s Cup matchup, looking for revenge on Washington after a brutal late-game collapse on Friday.
Washington Mystics at New York Liberty
A Commissioner’s Cup Pick on the Spread
After Friday’s loss fading Washington in the Asterisk Spot, I saw that Minnesota qualified on Saturday. Because I got screwed by a half point on the Washington game I stayed off fading Minnesota, +2′.
They lost by three.
But I digress.
I’m back on a Commissioner’s Cup Double Digit Fav today.
Let’s look at the numbers overall, all teams.
ATS CC DD Favs are 5-2.
Broken down into the H/A subcategory, Hm teams are 4-1, Rd teams are 1-1.
Ov/Un record is 4-3. Hm games are 2-3, Rd teams are 2-1.
Today the New York Liberty are at Hm laying Double Digits to Washington.
The above records are for all teams. For a team specific number, New York has been in the CC DD Fav spot once. They were laying 12 points on June 8th.
They won by nine points, failing to cover.
But that was a Rd game and Rd teams as noted above are just 1-1 in this spot. They’re at Hm today.
As Double Digit Favs at Hm this season New York is 1-1.
As Double Digit Rd Dogs Washington is 0-0.
No handicapping edges on either of those records.
But I do have one additional angle I’m relying on today.
I always say, “Revenge is not a reason to bet” but I usually say this right before I explain why I’m doing it anyway.
And I want revenge on the Mystics.
I’m struggling thus far in the WNBA. For my last pick I used Washington in the Asterisk Spot. There were -2′ at Hm.
They had an 18-point lead early in the 4th quarter.
They had a 15-point lead with just 3 minutes left.
Money in the bank, right?
WRONG!
They let Marina Mabry hit four three-pointers with under two minutes to go. FOUR!!!!
Nice job of coaching and play calling there by Washington head coach Sydney Johnson.
Maybe try switching up the defense on her next time, coach?
With just seconds left on the clock the Mystics were actually losing, having totally blown that 15-point lead with just three minutes left, a San Antonio Spurs-like collapse. Fortunately for them, Sonia Citron hit a two-pointer at the buzzer giving Washington a one point victory.
I got a push, but only two of our sponsors had it at -1, the common number that most bettors got was -1′, so that’s what I’ll use for my record since I didn’t have time to get in a last-minute post in the PredictEm Forum updating the “Wait to buy” notice I advised in the article.
So, yeah I want to see Washington get destroyed today after they screwed bettors by the hook on Friday.
I’m hoping that the Liberty have a little extra incentive to win big today, not wanting to be too upstaged by their male counterparts, who won the NBA championship last night.
My play: NY -13
Recap: 0-1
Record: 6-10
