Trade: The Nationals have sent speedy OF Nyjer Morgan to the Brewers in exchange for Cutter Dykstra. In case you’re wondering, YES, that is Lenny’s kid. – 3/28

You Probably Could Have Done Better! The Cubbies have released P Carlos Silva after he posted an ugly 10.90 ERA during spring training. He had given up a whopping 32 hits in 17.1 innings. – 3/28

Phils Still Unclear on All Star 2B: Don’t take this guy too high in your fantasy baseball drafts. It’s looking like he’s setting a goal of the all star break for a return. It wouldn’t surprise us if he missed the whole season. – 3/28

He’ll be Closing: The Texas Rangers announced today that P Neftali Feliz will be their closer. The team has toyed with the idea of having the 22 year old hurler starting, but have decided that he’s best suited coming out of the pen for now. – 3/24

Hanging’em Up: One of baseball’s best setup men is calling it a career. Long time Angels reliever Scot Shields has retired. He leaves the game with a very respectable 3.18 ERA. – 3/18

Mets Dump 2B: The NYM have released 2B Luis Castillo. He’ll be replaced by either Brad Emaus or Luis Hernandez. – 3/18

Injured Brewer: Newly acquired SP Zack Greinke will miss his first 3 starts of the season with a fractured rib that he sustained while playing basketball. – 3/8

Gardenhire Speaks: The Twins Manager has decided that Tsuyoshi Nishioka will play 2nd base this season. The decision means that Casilla will play shortstop. – 3/7

Welcome Back: Braves 3B Chipper Jones got his first time on the field in quite some time. His knee is still healing up and he’s expected to play about 135-140 games this season if he can stay healthy. Love him or hate him, Chipper Jones is good for MLB. – 3/3

Hanging Them Up: P Andy Pettitte called it quits today. While many are questioning if he’ll be a Hall of Fame candidate, I think we can all agree that he’ll go down as one of the most effective post-season pitchers to ever play the game. – 2/4

Short Stay: C Mike Napoli was only a member of the Blue Jays for 4 days. Now he’s been traded to the Rangers for P Frank Francisco. Napoli should put up pretty good numbers in Texas. Speaking of the Rangers, the word on the street is that they’re no longer interested in Vlad Guerrero. – 1/26

Staying a Little Longer: The Astros have extended the contract of SP Wandy Rodriguez for 3 years. The Reds have extended SP Johnny Cueto for 4 years. – 1/26

Smart Move: The KC Royals have given slugger Billy Butler a 4 year extension. Great move by team brass as Butler is a superb hitter who is just going to keep getting better and better. – 1/23

Manny Signs: Despite many thinking that Man-Ram would sign up the Rangers, he’s verbally agreed to sign with the Tampa Bay Rays. We knew that Florida was a big retirement destination, but the Rays are reinforcing our thoughts as they’ve signed aging slugger Johnny Damon as well. – 1/23

Blockbuster Trade: The Angels have sent C Mike Napoli and DH Juan Rivera north of the border (Toronto) in exchange for OF Vernon Wells. A change of scenery may be just what the Dr. ordered for Wells, who should have good success in California. – 1/23

Rangers Interested in Slugger: Texas is eyeballing DH Manny Ramirez. He’s surely aging but would still hit a ton in that ballpark. – 1/21

Signings: The NYY have signed OF/DH Andrew Jones to a one year deal. He’ll serve as a 4th outfielder/DH. The NYM have signed P Chris Young. – 1/20

Yankees Bolster Bullpen: The NYY have signed former Rays CL Rafael Soriano to a 3 year deal. He will serve as the setup man for Mariano Rivera. He’s got nasty stuff and will surely be the AL leader in holds should he stay healthy. – 1/14

One of MLB’s “Good Guys” Staying Put: Despite speculation that Twins DH Jim Thome might be headed to the Rangers (or elsewhere), he has in fact re-signed with the Minnesota Twins for another year. – 1/14

Top Closer Hangs’em Up: Long-time closer Trevor Hoffman has announced that he’s retiring. – 1/11

2011 HOF Inductees: Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven will be this year’s players inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame. – 1/5

Signings: The Atlanta Braves have signed 2B Dan Uggla to a 5 year contract extension. As expected, the Washington Nationals signed 1B Adam LaRoche to a 2 year deal. – 1/4

Speculation: Talk is heating up about where some of the bigger free agents still available may end up. The Rangers are said to be close to signing Adrian Beltre, the Nats are said to be close to signing 1B Adam LaRoche and the Reds are said to like OF Fred Lewis. – 1/3
