THE INTRODUCTION:

This Sunday in Nissan Stadium we have an AFC/NFC showdown between two teams that are 2-1 on the young season. One team, I absolutely hate, the Philadelphia Eagles and the other team I really have no care or opinion of (meaning I will cheer for them), the Tennessee Titans. Both teams have played well so far in 2018 and when this one is over, one will be 3-1 and securely in the driver’s seat through the first quarter of the season while the other will have some work to do. The Eagles come into this game as a four point road favorite over the Titans and the over-under set at 41.5 combined. As of early Tuesday morning, the betting public was ALL OVER the Eagles with almost 65% of the action on them to cover. This is an indication that this line will more than likely increase as the week goes on. As for the total points, the public is about even with 54% thinking this game stays low scoring and under the posted total of 41.5. On the season, both of these teams are 2-1 against the spread. This is going to be a fun one to break down seeing as how I could see this game going either way.

WHY THE EAGLES MAY NOT COVER:

Coming off of a Super Bowl title (gag) and a 2-1 start, the Philadelphia Eagles are again one of the favorites to win the NFC title. Along with the LA Rams, these are the top two odds in Vegas to take home the prize. With that said, this season has a ways to go and anything can happen. Just this past Sunday, the Eagles got the win over the Colts but it was a close game against a pretty crappy Colts team. I see some glaring concerns with this Philadelphia team so far in 2018. In my opinion, the Eagles offense is below average…at best. The one time the defense allowed over 20 points, the Eagles lost. There is no way Philly is going to continue to win scoring 18 and 20 points a week. Eventually, the defense will have down days and eventually other teams will be able to score on them. This weekend the task will not be much easier for the Eagles either. They are facing a Titans team that ranks 4th in the NFL in scoring defense. Statistically, this is a very even match up with points scored versus points against allowed all season. I just do not feel overly confident about Philly on the road here. Tennessee is becoming a very undervalued team and the Eagles are the exact opposite. Many see the Eagles as the King’s of the NFC and I will tell you right now…THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WILL NOT WIN THE NFC THIS SEASON! Write that down, keep a copy, and remember come January that I told you so. This is not the same Eagles from last season and this team just does not have it in them to repeat. Can the Eagles win this game on Sunday? Yes. Could they cover the four points? Yes. But I am telling you now, this is going to be one hell of a battle late into the fourth quarter.

WHY THE TITANS COULD COVER:

In my opinion, the Tennessee Titans are just a couple of playmakers on offense away from becoming a legit AFC contender. You laugh at that comment but it is the truth. When you mix a good offense with a top four NFL defense, the outcome is usually success. Marcus Mariota is getting better and better each season and each week, the defense is standing pat, and the fans are becoming more excited about what is in the works in Nashville. So, the question is, How Could The Titans Cover This Sunday? Easy. Play Titan football. We know the Eagles offense is nothing to really worry about. Philadelphia ranks just 22nd in points scored in the entire NFL. I can see Tennessee making this a gritty and physical game. Long/time consuming drives, solid defense, and a couple of special teams plays could be the difference this Sunday. I am not saying that Tennessee is going to beat the breaks off Philly, but again, being spotted four points is a huge plus for anyone who likes the Titans in this one.

THE PREDICTION:

So what will happen come 1:00pm on Sunday? Well, like I mentioned, I see a hard nosed, low scoring affair between two average offenses and two amazing defenses. Turnovers are key in this one and not just that, special teams will also play a huge role. I predict that the score will be around 13-13 headed into the fourth quarter and somewhere along the line a big play happens. Maybe a turnover, maybe a huge Tennessee play, but something in favor of the Titans will happen allowing them to win the game both outright and covering the spread. I like the Titans to take down the Eagles 20-16 at home this Sunday. So yes, I like Tennessee plus the four, but I want to also give you some expert advice. The public is hitting the Eagles HARD. Meaning if you like Tennessee, do not lay the bet just yet! At this rate, by Saturday or Sunday morning, you may can get this game at a +5 or even a +6 if the public continues to pounce on Philly. BE SMART. GAIN EVERY ADVANTAGE YOU CAN!

Bob’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: I really like the Tennessee Titans plus the points on Sunday, I also would recommend a small wager that this games goes UNDER the posted total of 41.5 points! BEST OF LUCK GUYS
