Los Angeles is a 6.5-point home favorite over Las Vegas with a total of 43.5. My play is the Raiders getting the points.

The line movement is the entry point here. This game opened with the Chargers laying 8.5, and it has moved all the way down to -6.5 in some spots. That’s a full two-point spread swing toward Las Vegas in a matter of days. When a line moves that aggressively in one direction before kickoff, sharp money is telling us the Chargers were overvalued at the initial number. And when you look at how each team actually played in Week 1, the reasons for the move become clear.

Las Vegas dominated Miami 27-13 in their opener. That was a legitimate road win for a team that was supposed to be a fringe playoff contender at best. Ashton Jeanty made an electric NFL debut and looks like a bona fide star at running back. The Raiders defense pressured Tua Tagovailoa consistently and forced the kind of turnovers that shorten scoring possessions. That’s an entire team playing at a level higher than the market expected.

Meanwhile, the Chargers were upset at home 26-14 by Arizona. That’s the biggest upset of Week 1. Justin Herbert averaged just 7.7 yards per attempt, and the Chargers’ offense couldn’t find rhythm all game. Losing outright as a big home favorite is a specific signal — it typically indicates a team that either has schematic issues, execution problems, or is dealing with injury concerns that the market hasn’t fully accounted for. All three of those factors work against Los Angeles this week.

The QB matchup favors the Raiders too. Herbert had a bad Week 1, but that’s not the only concern. Cousins looked steady in Week 1 with 1-for-7 on passes of 10+ air yards — those numbers show he isn’t going to push downfield much, but he’ll manage the game. Cousins doesn’t need to win a shootout — he just needs to keep the offense functional while Ashton Jeanty carries the rushing attack. Against a Chargers defense that just gave up 26 points to Arizona, that formula should work.

Klint Kubiak’s Raiders play a specific style of football — physical, run-oriented, and defense-first. That approach travels well and doesn’t get overwhelmed by big-name opponents. Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers are the type of team that can get upset when they’re overlooked, but they’re also the type of team that struggles when they’re expected to blow out an inferior opponent.

Realistic outcomes: Chargers 23, Raiders 20 (3-point margin, Raiders cover +6.5); Chargers 24, Raiders 17 (7-point margin, doesn’t cover); Chargers 27, Raiders 21 (6-point margin, covers by 0.5); or a Raiders upset win outright. Three of four scenarios cover, and given the momentum swing from Week 1 and the current line movement, this is the right side of the number.

The Pick: Las Vegas Raiders +6.5
