While Chelsea suffered a blow with a 1-1 draw in their last Champions League match, where they were heavily favored, they have been lights out in the Premier League. The Blues sit in first place in the league table 4-points clear of Southampton and they are the only team in the league that has not lost a match.

Liverpool came in 2nd in the EPL last season, but has not gotten off to a good start this season after 10 matches. They sit in 7th place in the league table already 12 points back of Chelsea.

One of the main reasons the Reds are not winning is their offense has only scored 13 goals in 10 matches. They really miss Luis Suarez, who led the EPL in goals last season and is no with Barcelona.

The Blues are getting it done on both sides of the pitch, as they lead the league in goals, by a 6-goal margin, and they have given up the 2nd fewest.

Liverpool is coming off a 1-0 in their Champions League encounter and they lost their last EPL match falling to Newcastle United 1-0 on the road. They are not in form, to say the least, as the Reds only have 1 win with 3 losses and a draw in their last 5 matches.

Last season at home Liverpool lost to Chelsea 2-0, which dashed the hopes of the Reds’ title chance.

The Reds are 2-1-2 at home this season and while at Anfield they have only conceded 4 goals they have only scored 5. Chelsea has scored as many goals this season on the road as at home.

The Reds’ defense has one goal in this match and that is try to contain Diego Costa, who ranks 2nd in the EPL in goals scored with 9. However, Oscar and Eden Hazard each have 3 goals apiece for the Blues, whose offense has stalled a bit after a torrid start. Chelsea has only 6 goals in their last 4 matches.

Raheem Sterling has a lot of pressure on his in this match to pace the Liverpool offense. He is the leading goal-scorer for the squad and he was rested in the Reds’ recent Champions League encounter. He and MF Steven Gerrard are the only 2 players on the squad that have scored more than 1 goal on the season.

The key to this game for the Reds will be their play in the midfield. Not only do they have to thwart the attack in that area of the field, but they also have to pounce on counter-attack chances, as the Blues will be on the offensive from the get go.

Liverpool’s Kolo Toure is the leader of the defense and he is ready to prove that Chelsea is not invincible. He recently stated, “It is a very important game when you think what they did to us last season.” The Reds have some payback in mind, but they have to play well and that is especially the case on the defensive side of the pitch.

In their last 10 matches Liverpool has an Over/Under 2.5 goal record of 5-5 and Chelsea is at 4-6.

Jason’s Prediction to Win the Match: Liverpool will be ready for this match, but they simply do not have the talent on the pitch that Chelsea does. The Blues will not easily beat the Reds, but they will win by a score of 1-0 or 2-1.
