Real Madrid came in 2nd place in La Liga this season and they are the early favorites to win the Spanish title next year, as they recently made two huge moves. First, they brought in Kaka from AC Milan for 68 million Euros and then they brought in Cristiano Ronaldo for a whopping 80 million Euros from Manchester United.

Not only did Real Madrid get two of the best young players in the world, but they set the bar high for other star players to get huge contracts. It may hurt Real Madrid’s rival Barcelona even more besides the new stars, but Barcelona President Joan Laporta criticized the reported 68-million Euro fee paid for Kaka and cautioned that he would not match that money to extend the contract of star Samuel Eto’o.

Real Madrid goalie Iker Casillas was thrilled to hear about the moves that the club made and he thinks that the signings will put the Spanish giants back on top in La Liga. He stated about the Ronaldo move to the Daily Star, “Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player [in the world], without doubt. I believe that if Real Madrid do the deal then he will help return the club to number one in the world.”

Barcelona has yet to make any off-season moves, but you can believe they will in order to keep up with their major rivals.
