There are a lot of buzz words in the world of video poker that you will need to know and understand to properly play and discuss the games. Here is a short glossary of terms and jargon to get you acquainted:

Draw Poker: A basic game of poker with no wild cards.

Bonus Poker: A basic game of poker with no wild cards, but with four of a kind bonuses.

Bonus Poker Deluxe: A version of draw poker where all four of a kind hands are increased to 80:1.

Double Bonus Poker: A version of draw poker in which the four of a kinds are separated into different categories. Aces pay the highest. Twos, threes, and fours are increased. All 5s through Ks pay 50:1.

Double Double Bonus Poker: A version of draw poker adding to Double Bonus Poker a kicker. The kickers will double four of a kind returns on aces, 2s, 3s, and 4s.

White Hot Aces: A draw poker variety that has increased payouts for four aces and also for 2s, 3s, and 4s. No kickers here.

Joker Poker: A draw poker game that adds one wild joker to the deck.

Deuces Wild Poker: All the 2s or deuces are wild.

Deuces Wild Bonus Poker: This game combines the elements of Deuces Wild and Bonus Poker. There are reduced returns at the bottom and increased returns for four of a kind hands. They double select four of a kind hands with the addition of a kicker.

Kickers: A designated card that accompanies a four of a kind (usually) that doubles the return. The most common kickers are for bonus aces. For example, in double double bonus poker, four aces pays 800 coins on a max bet, but 2000 coins on a max bet if it is accompanied by a kicker (2s, 3s, or 4s).

Progressives: Bays of machines in which play from each of the machines contribute a small portion of the coin-in to a jackpot assigned to a particular hand. Most progressives have a royal flush jackpot. The pot increases each time a hand is played. First person to hit that hand wins the progressive. Some machines have progressives for four of a kind hands as well.

Max Bet: This simply refers to the most coins you are allowed to bet on a hand. On most machines the max bet is five coins. Some machines take 10 or more coins. Watch out for this as you can lose your 20 in a couple of hands if the max bet is more than 5.

Deuces: The four twos in the deck.

Wild Royal: A royal flush that includes a wild card. Returns are significantly less for a wild royal than a natural royal.

Dirty Royal: Slang for a Wild Royal.

Natural Royal: A royal flush with no wild cards.

Full House: A hand consisting of three of a kind with a pair.

Flush: A hand consisting of all cards of the same suit.

Straight: A run of cards in order such as 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Straight Flush: A straight of one suit.

Royal Flush: The highest straight flush: 10, J, Q, K, A of any suit.
