Los Angeles Lakers at Sacramento Kings
Wednesday, November 4, 2026
10:00 PM ET, Golden 1 Center
The Lakers are 11.5-point road favorites in Sacramento with the total at 234.5, and my play is Over 234.5.
Luka Doncic is averaging 38.3 points a game. Read that again, then picture him walking into the building with one of the worst defenses in basketball.
The best offense on the slate, against the welcome mat. The Lakers (6-2) score 122.1 points per 100 possessions, second in the NBA per Basketball Reference. They shoot 52% from the field and 40% from three, per ESPN. Doncic dropped 45 on Toronto Sunday and then 42 with 13 assists on Miami Monday, and Austin Reaves is adding 23.6 a night while hitting 44.4% from deep. Walker Kessler is listed as available with a finger splint, and he hauled in 15 rebounds against the Heat.
Sacramento’s defense, meanwhile, gives up 121.3 points per 100 possessions, third-worst in the league. The Kings have allowed 121 or more in six of their seven games, and they block just 2.7 shots a game, the lowest number in the NBA. There’s no one at the rim to scare anybody. Keegan Murray (ankle) and Maxime Raynaud (knee) are still out, which takes two more bodies out of an already thin frontcourt.

The Kings can score enough to carry their half. This isn’t just a bet on the Lakers going off. Rookie Darius Acuff Jr. is averaging 26.1 points, the most in his class, and he’s had 38 in Memphis and 34 with 14 assists in New Orleans. Zach LaVine adds 23.4, and Domantas Sabonis is grabbing 14.6 rebounds a game, which means second-chance points against a Lakers team that ranks 17th in rebounding margin. Sacramento finally got its first win Monday, a 115-100 decision in Dallas, and this is the Kings’ first game at Golden 1 Center since October 25, when they lost to Memphis. They’re 0-2 at home and should be eager to show their fans something.
L.A. isn’t a lock-down group either. The Lakers allow 114.9 points per 100 possessions, which is below average, so Acuff and LaVine should find openings.
Pace seals it. The Kings play at 102.5 possessions per 48 minutes, tied for fourth-fastest in the league, and the Lakers are slightly above average at 100.3. More possessions plus two leaky defenses equals points. Sacramento is 5-2 to the over this season and the Lakers are 5-3, per TeamRankings. If you plug the efficiency numbers into the expected pace, the projection lands in the low 240s, comfortably above the number.
How this goes sideways. The Lakers played Sunday and Monday before getting Tuesday off, and Doncic has carried a heavy load. If L.A. builds a 25-point lead by the third quarter and Doncic sits the fourth, the bench may not finish the job. The early-season numbers are also small samples, and a Kings defense that’s this bad might not stay this bad. A cold-shooting night from three for either team could keep this one in the 220s.
Projected score: Lakers 127, Kings 113. That’s 240 total points, and a Lakers cover on top of it.
The Pick: Over 234.5
