Tyler Mahle has been dominant against the Phillies since joining Atlanta at the trade deadline. In two starts against Philadelphia in September, Mahle allowed a combined one earned run in 13 innings. On September 6 specifically, he held the Phillies scoreless over 6 innings. That’s the kind of matchup-specific dominance that rarely gets reflected in season-long ERA numbers.
Mahle’s overall 7-10 record and 3.99 ERA come from his time before the trade deadline. Since arriving in Atlanta, he’s posted a 1.99 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. Those are ace-level numbers, and they’re specifically aligned with what he’ll bring to Game 2. Truist Park has been his home stadium since the deadline, and he’s demonstrated the ability to execute the Braves’ game plan against elite offenses — including the Phillies.

The Phillies’ ML favorite pricing overweights Sanchez’s overall numbers and doesn’t properly account for Mahle’s September dominance over Philadelphia, Sanchez’s own struggles in September, and the Braves’ home advantage.
