Jason Kidd Trade

Jason Kidd Trade

UPDATED 2/18 7:41 EST: It looks like the on-off-on-off trade involving Jason Kidd is back ON. The new terms of the deal appear to include Kidd on his way to the Nets along with Malik Allen for Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, the rights to Keith Van Horn and defensive stopper Trenton Hassell.

Earlier deals had Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse included in the deal but George refused to to play in NJ. The Mavs score big here too as they keep Jerry Stackhouse, a huge part of their bench.

The Nets also grabbed 2 first round draft picks (probably low ones) and 3 mill in cash as well.

Rumors are swirling out of New Jersey and Dallas that a Jason Kidd Trade sending him to the Mavericks is a done deal.

Details are still sketchy though as we’ve heard two different sets of players
being involved. The first has point guard Devin Harris,
forward Jerry Stackhouse, center DeSagana Diop, Devean George and possibly
Mo Ager being shipped to New Jersey for Jason Kidd and point guard Darrell
Armstrong.

The other mix of players we’ve heard is Dallas sending Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, DeSagana Diop, 3 million dollars cash and 2 first round draft picks to the Nets for Jason Kidd and Malik Allen.

We expect the true details to come out late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

All we have to say is that the Mavs are mortgaging their future for an aging Jason Kidd. Devin Harris had really been coming on even adding an outside shot to his game. He looks to be an above average point guard for many years to come. The effectiveness of the trade will come out in the wash, but at first glance, it looks like the Nets got the better end of the deal here.
