Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder jerseys facing off at midcourt of Paycom Center in Oklahoma City

Washington Wizards at Oklahoma City Thunder
Saturday, November 7, 2026
8:00 PM ET, Paycom Center

The Thunder are 11.5-point favorites over the Wizards at most books, with the total at 219.5. My play is Wizards +11.5.

Oklahoma City is 7-2 and undefeated at home. It also looks nothing like the roster that number was built for.

This is not last year’s Thunder

Chet Holmgren is out eight to ten weeks after a patellar tendon procedure. Jalen Williams is done for a stretch after ankle surgery. Cason Wallace needs shoulder surgery. Jaylin Williams, Nikola Topic, and Thomas Sorber all sat Friday’s road win in Memphis. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is still Shai (about 30 a night), and Ajay Mitchell just dropped 35 on the Grizzlies in a 128-97 runaway. That win also means the Thunder are on a back-to-back tonight. Blowing out Memphis on the road is impressive. Covering a double-digit number on night two without half the frontcourt is a different job.

The efficiency numbers are the tell. Oklahoma City’s net rating sits around +1.5 — middle of the pack — while Washington is roughly even. The market is asking you to buy an 11-point gap the advanced stats refuse to cash. Both clubs are also living on the under (each 3-6 to the total), which fits a Paycom game that does not need to become a track meet for the home side to win.

Washington is 4-5 and coming off a 139-132 loss in Atlanta where Trae Young had 23 and 10 and Kyshawn George went for 33. Anthony Davis is day-to-day with an ankle sprain and did not play Friday — if he sits again, the Wizards are thin inside behind Deandre Ayton and Alex Sarr. Even so, Trae’s teams keep games interesting, and Washington covered as an 8.5-point dog last night in a loss. Getting 11.5 in Oklahoma City is the softest version of this matchup the board will post.

What could go wrong: SGA decides it’s a 40-point night, Mitchell stays nuclear, and a short-handed Wizards frontcourt gets hunted in transition for 48 minutes. The Thunder are 4-0 at Paycom for a reason. If Davis is a late scratch-in and limited, you get the worst of both worlds — hope without production. This is a points play, not a belief that Washington wins outright.

I’ll live with a Thunder win as long as it does not turn into a laugher. The number is pricing a healthy dynasty. This is a patched-together favorite on short rest.

Projected score: Thunder 114, Wizards 105

The Pick: Wizards +11.5
