NFC West rivals will collide for postseason Monday Night Football action this week when the Los Angeles Rams host the Arizona Cardinals inside SoFi Stadium. At 12-5 SU, the Rams secured the #4 seed by winning the NFC West, which has become the hardest division in football. Despite the No.4 seed, many consider the Rams among the dangerous teams in the NFC, if not the entire league. However, match-ups against familiar foes can be tricky.

In fact, the Rams and Cardinals split their
previous two meetings this season. The Cardinals earned a 37-20 victory back in week 4, which was avenged by a Rams 30-23 victory in week 14. Both games produced plenty of fireworks which should be expected again in primetime on Monday between two of the best offenses in the NFL. The Rams are currently getting the nod as 4 point favorites in Monday’s 3rd meeting of the season. While I believe the Rams should be the slight favorite, I am particularly focused on the 49.5 point betting total that has a high likelihood
of being breached.

Expect fireworks on Monday Night Football

As mentioned above, both prior meetings sailed
over the 50 point mark with relative ease, and now we have the perfect conditions for another shootout on Monday with everything on the line. Both the Rams and Cardinals have outstanding defensive talent that should be given credit in this match-up. However,
both defenses surprisingly rank outside the top 10 in nearly every major category.

For the first time in weeks, Arizona appears
completely healthy with QB Kyler Murray and a backfield that includes both James Conner and Chase Edmonds. The Cardinals have put a bigger emphasis on running the football in recent weeks, but I’m expecting more run-pass-options that turn into downfield opportunities
on Monday against a Rams defense that has relinquished 241 yards per game through the air, which is among the worst in the NFC. Murray’s dual-threat ability has been kryptonite against this Rams defense this season, and I think the opportunities will be there
again this week.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams Betting
Trends

  • The Rams are 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in the last 6 games
  • The Rams have hit the “under” in 4 of the last 5 games at home
  • The Rams have hit the “over” in 4 of the last 5 games against Arizona
  • The Rams have hit the “over” in 4 of the last 5 games against NFC opponents
  • The Cardinals are 1-4 SU and 1-4 ATS in the last 5 games
  • The Cardinals are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games against the Rams
  • The Cardinals are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games on the road
  • The Cardinals have hit the “over” in 4 of their last 6 games against NFC West opponents

Meanwhile, Los Angeles has basically adapted
the “win now at all cost” mentality with their recent signings of QB Matt Stafford, WR Odell Beckham, and others over the last year. While Stafford can still have some questionable moments throwing the football, the Rams are absolutely dynamic at the skill positions. WR Cooper Kupp has one of the best seasons in league history, Beckham is turning into a touchdown machine, and RB Sony Michel has been a beast between the tackles. Throw in last week’s return of RB Cam Akers, and this offense is absolutely loaded with fresh legs and dangerous playmakers. Even with the pending return of Cardinals DE J.J. Watt, the Rams have all the utensils to keep Arizona on their heels. Additionally, the threat that both offenses possess nearly guarantees the pace will stay upbeat.
Each offense will have a strong desire to answer each score, and I believe that will turn into yet another high-scoring affair.
