Despite an ugly offensive performance on the road in Detroit last week, the Baltimore Ravens moved to 2-1 SU thanks to an incredible 66-yard walk-off field goal from kicker Justin Tucker. The Ravens were penalized frequently, there were multiple dropped touchdown passes, and there was minimal rushing success from one of the league’s most dynamic rushing offenses. Even with the defense giving up 10 points in the 4th quarter, the Ravens found a way to mount a comeback with just 1 minute on the clock following the Lions’ final score, which set up the game-winning field goal. At 2-1 SU, the Ravens’ heroic win kept them in a tie for the lead in the AFC North, and they will look to hold that position this weekend when they travel to Mile High to meet the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos will stay in Mile High for the 2nd straight game this weekend following a 26-0 blowout over the New York Jets in week 3. Not only did the victory keep the Broncos unbeaten, but it also moved them to 3-0 against the spread. The Broncos defense has played well, holding opponents to just 26 points combined on the season. Meanwhile, the offense has been efficient behind the game managing play of QB Teddy Bridgewater and an emerging rushing attack from tailbacks Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. However, when discussing the Broncos’ early success, we have to point to the elephant in the room. The Broncos’ first three wins have come against the likes of the Giants, Jaguars, and Jets, who are all winless on the season. Against a much tougher opponent, perhaps we will finally see just what type of ceiling this Broncos’ team possesses on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Denver Broncos Betting Analysis

My concern for the Broncos is that they just don’t have the firepower to consistently produce on the offensive side of the football. I mean, the Broncos have not even been impressive against many inferior defenses. The running attack is average at best, and the passing attack is far from reliable. I’m assuming bettors are being too critical of Baltimore’s near dud against Detroit and giving too much credit to the Broncos’ outright record this week. Bettors should remember this is a Baltimore offense that just posted 36 points in a shootout win against Kansas City. QB Lamar Jackson has looked really good to start the year, and despite a couple of missed opportunities last week, the Ravens are creating plenty of scoring opportunities.

If those opportunities are converted on Sunday, I don’t think that Denver can match the Ravens’ firepower, especially if they have to move into a forced passing game-script. The ultimate misconception in this game is assuming the Broncos are a top-notch defense based on early performances against the winless trio. Keep in mind, this is a Broncos defense that took steps backward in 2020 and needed to bring in talent over the offseason to help their secondary. Rookie Pat Surtain and cornerback Kyle Fuller are going to get their biggest test of the season on Sunday against a guy like Lamar that can prolong opportunities with his legs. I just think this is a bad match-up for the Broncos’ defense, and I don’t see the Denver offense creating enough opportunities on the offensive side of the football.
