Both teams enter on contrasting notes as the Giants come in off their third consecutive win against Philadelphia at home, where the G-Men won 28-23. As for Cincy, the Bengals come in off a 27-27 stalemate draw against Washington in Great Britain, last Sunday. The Bengals are 1-2-1 in their last four contests.
The Bengals have not looked like the playoff team we saw in 2015. The Bengals were off to a searing start at this time last year but this year this franchise has seemingly floundered. Most of this can be chalked up to the play of their quarterback Andy Dalton who is nothing less than a Jekyll and Hyde rendition on the field. Either Dalton is lights out or he makes too many mistakes and thus the Bengals sit at 3-4-1. The potential was there but now the energy has turned kinetic. Given the fact Cincinnati lives and dies by their offense, this is a favorable situation yet again for the Giants to explode. We remain vehement about their receiving corps and the fact that Odell Beckham can potentially exploit a mismatch makes the Giants a tasty play as Cincinnatis defense is one of the worst against the pass.
We are simply going to keep playing the hot hand and once again attack this situation from the perspective of home field advantage. The Bengals have been out to MetLife Stadium earlier this year when they played the Giants roommates, the New York Jets and they escaped barely. The Bengals won by just a point and could have easily lost the game had it not been for the Jets resorting to their usual antics of blowing games late. The Giants are a different team with a different pedigree, seemingly they put teams away when they get the chance. When reflecting on their win at Dallas, the Giants 5-3 record is all the more impressive in hindsight.
This game is likely to be all the more sharp as it is a Monday night game and thus the oddsmakers are likely all over this one. Now with a primetime national audience, the Bengals are the next unit up to wade in to the murky and intimidating environment of MetLife Stadium. Once again this narrative is the compelling vantage to spot the home points.
