Holy Lord! This Sunday will usher in the second meeting in three weeks for these NFC West Division monsters; Denver and Kansas City?! Much has happened since KC was thinking 72 Dolphins then losing two straight to Denver awaythen San Diegoat home? The Chiefs probably feel much more comfy now with two losses under their belts. The Broncos are absolutely reeling from stomping the Patriots last week in the first half 24-ZIP only to get smoked in the second half and losing to the Pats in OT 34-31!!! You know Manning is running HOT and the Chiefs are looking for some Get Back after being undressed in the Mile High City. My only question: Why the crap is this AWESOME matchup not on Sunday Night Footballand the stinkin G-Men and RG Nothing wrong with me III in Primetime?? Stupid NFLthe NFL is getting as bad as any Wal-Mart (you pick!) in Customer Service! DANG BABY!
Here we go again! Kansas Citys offense is 11th in points for, 22nd in total yards, 19th in the NFL in 1st downs, 26th in passing yards for, 23rd in passing TDs, 13th in rushing yards and 14th in rushing touchdowns. By Contrast, Denvers defense is 26th in points allowed, 26th in yards against, 28th giving up 1st downs, 30th in passing yards against, 27th in passing TDs against, 5th in rushing yards against, but 20th in rushing TDs against. The Broncos will be missing DT Kevin Vickerson is lost for the year after dislocating his hip (HOLY LORD!) against the Pats last weekend. BUT, All-Mountain West Conference performer Champ Bailey (HA!) is expected to return to the secondary after an extended absence due to injury. The Chiefs have a few players hobbled on offense but there are no notable injuries to starters for this contest.
When Denver is on offense, the Broncos are 1st in the NFL in points for, 1st in the NFL in yards for, number 1 in total first downs for, 1st in passing TDs, 1st in passing yards for, 1st in net yards per completion, 12th in rushing yards for, 3rd in rushing TDs, and the Broncos do not like turning the ball over but theyre doing a pretty good job of it sitting 18th in turnover differential at -3. A Note: It isnt so much about the Broncos offense giving the ball up as it seems to be with Denvers defense being fairly weak. Kansas City is the Number 1 Team in the NFL in turnover differential at +13. A Note: It isnt so much that Kansas Citys offense is so strongthey arent—Kansas City simply doesnt throw the ball very much and KC still has 5 picks (compared with 7 INTs for a Denver offense who throws the ball ALL OVER THE YARD)KCs Defense is much better than Denvers at taking the ball away.
Two huge reasons to pick Denver? Kansas City LB Justin Houston is out for this game and LB Tamba Hali is banged up. Together, Hali and Houston are the 4th and 8th leading tacklers on Kansas Citys team. BUT, Hali and Houston have a combined 20 sacks between them! Houston is tied for 3rd in the NFL with 11.0 sacks while Hali is tied for 10th with 9.0 sacksin the entire NFL! These two are a MASSIVE reason why KC has won 9 games (against marginal opponents). Without themUHOH!!! In contrast1 Reason to pick Kansas City? Knowshon Moreno is dinged up will likely be limited so leading team fumbler Monte Ball will carry the rock a bunchthe slippery rockfor the Broncos most of the game.
Peytons pissed and KC is overratedand Kansas City is in dire straits with the loss of 20, count em TWENTYsacks injured for this game. Even with Moreno hobbled, KC lives by the defense and they will most certainly die by their defense this Sunday. Give Manning even more time to throw and hell cut you up like a down-and-out- drifter slurpin ripple! Get the Guinness Book people back to Arrowhead this Sunday! Fastest exit of 79,000+ from an NFL parking lot as this one probably ends midway through the third quarter. YOWSA!
Tim’s Pick to Cover the Point Spread: Denver Broncos -6
